{"id":199375,"date":"2025-11-10T07:44:00","date_gmt":"2025-11-10T15:44:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.canyon-news.com\/?p=199375"},"modified":"2025-11-10T07:44:00","modified_gmt":"2025-11-10T15:44:00","slug":"detectives-request-public-assistance-in-rental-fraud-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.canyon-news.com\/detectives-request-public-assistance-in-rental-fraud-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Detectives Request Public Assistance In Rental Fraud Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>HOLLYWOOD\u2014On November 5, the Los Angeles Police Department disclosed that detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department\u2019s Commercial Crimes Division are asking the public for help in identifying more victims of a suspect who used victims\u2019 Personal Identification Information (PII) to fraudulently rent apartments.<\/p>\n<p>The LAPD reported that in September 2025, the suspect applied to rent apartments at two different locations in the Hollywood and Larchmont areas. The suspect used other individuals\u2019 personal identification information to complete rental applications and provided counterfeit cashier\u2019s checks to property management companies as part of the process.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect is described as a Black male with dreadlocks and a beard or goatee and is also known as \u201cIgor.\u201d Detectives are releasing the suspect\u2019s photo because they believe there may be additional victims, including rental and property management companies that may have been targeted.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_199367\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-199367\" style=\"width: 245px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-199367\" src=\"https:\/\/www.canyon-news.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/NR25224-245x300-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"245\" height=\"300\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-199367\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo courtesy of the Los Angeles Police Department.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Anyone who believes they were victimized by the suspect or has information about this case is urged to contact the Los Angeles Police Department\u2019s Commercial Crimes Division, Detective Juan Campos, at (213) 486-5995 or via email at 31480@LAPD.online.<\/p>\n<p>During non-business hours or weekends, calls should be directed to 1-877-LAPD-24-7 (1-877-527-3247).
