HOLLYWOOD—Victoria and Jason went toe-to-toe last week on “The Oval.” That mayhem continued in this week’s episode, ‘Lies and Alibis’ where Jason asked the question, we’ve all wanted to know: WHERE IS GAIL? The audience have wanted that question answered since season 1. Jason threatened death upon his mother, while Hunter refused to acknowledge that Jason is troubled. This is one time where I’m all on Victoria’s side with the truth; you might not like what she is saying, but she speaks the truth with no regret.
Lilly spilled tea to Priscilla about her ordeal with Donald, as Simone was given advice on when to strike to get revenge on Victoria for sleeping with Eli. What are we spending so much time on this unnecessary dialogue that is a back and forth between Bobby and Max? I’m starting to realize that Tyler Perry just drafts scenes together to give his characters screentime, even if there is no purposed to the narrative at all.
Here we go again with a pointless scene with more dialogue than we need between Richard and Sam. Dare I say this, it’s time for Richard and Nancy to go. They are bringing nothing to the table that makes me care about either character. Kyle and Donald chatted about their predicament, just as Eli found himself having to negotiate with a top crisis manager in Constance, who demanded to meet with Hunter and Victoria to know precisely what has unfolded. It was smart to have Hunter vet Constance because I got the same feeling when she entered, ‘The Oval;’ something about this woman just isn’t adding up.
Constance paid a visit to Allan looking for the Chief of Staff, which raised a flag with Allan upon realizing that he wasn’t what she expected. This totally feels like a filler episode, with absolutely no story movement AT ALL. Just characters sharing scenes and talking in circles. We are getting a lot of flashbacks in this episode; I feel those flashbacks are happening for a reason. I’m not sure precisely why.
Jason’s trauma is coming front-and-center, discussing his mother forgetting his birthdays and not showing any affection to her children while she raised them. Jason admitted to Victoria that he was responsible for killing her mother and he relished in her demise. Jason and Victoria bonding over the death of her mother, had Hunter shaken. Again, the question remains: WHERE IS GAIL? Jason tried to make it clear that he planned to take out Hunter, but Hunter made it clear Jason better not try anything.
Victoria made it clear she didn’t know the whereabouts of Gail; that she was sent to a camp to do hard labor; whoa, Gail was sent to that cult camp with ‘The Highest.’ Jason made it clear that Gail is not at that camp. Jason became unnerved threatening Victoria as he taunted having a KNIFE, which he actually did and he stabbed Victoria. Looking forward to next week, where more mayhem is unleashed inside ‘The Oval’ and secrets are revealed. Until next week “The Oval” fanatics!
