HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Thefts of copper wire have been occurring in the Los Angeles area, and now wiring is being stolen from power boxes in the Hollywood Hills.

So far, a minimum of half a dozen power boxes in the Hollywood Hills have been vandalized leaving wires standing out of the holes that the criminals left in the middle of the street when they stole the wire.

As a result, the streetlights do not work leaving the streets dark. Also, the residents fear for both their safety and that their houses may be the target of a burglary performed by a criminal.

In addition, they fear the theft of the copper wire might be signs of a larger issue.

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—Vincent Mazzotta Junior, who previously lived in Hollywood Hills and now resides in Arizona, has pleaded guilty to one count of money laundering. He, along with his co-defendant, David Saffron, scammed people by convincing them they could make quick, high-yield investments in cryptocurrency companies such as Cloud9Capital and Mind Capital, using automated trading robots. These robots are powered by artificial intelligence. The two men also committed another crime by claiming to be agents working for the Federal Crypto Reserve, a fictitious government agency, to further scam their victims by convincing them to pay for an investigation into the disappearance of their investments. In total, the two men defrauded people out of $13 million.

Additionally, Vincent Mazzotta Jr. pleaded guilty to conspiracy to obstruct justice. After David Saffron was arrested, Mazzotta and other co-conspirators destroyed evidence stored in a safe at Saffron’s apartment. They also destroyed an iPad that contained further evidence of criminal activity. Mazzotta then attempted to prevent a federal grand jury from investigating him by falsifying the records of Runway Beauty Inc., his company.

After the guilty pleas were entered, Judge Dale S. Fischer, the U.S. District Judge presiding over the case, scheduled the sentencing hearing for December 15. Mazzotta Junior could potentially face a maximum sentence of 10 years for money laundering to be served in federal prison, along with up to five years for obstruction of justice.

In 1994, Francis Ford Coppola and his wife, Eleanor, bought a house in the Hollywood Hills that had three bedrooms and four bathrooms. He sold it in 2013 to Jacqui de la Fontaine. She was engaged to the late Gian Carlo when he died and was pregnant with their daughter. HOLLYWOOD HILLS—In April 2025, the family of Hasmik Demirchayn, who passed away in 2021, discovered that their matriarch’s headstone was placed on the wrong grave when she died. The family is now suing Forest Lawn Memorial Park for gross negligence.

Hasmik Demichayn and her husband, Avetis, emigrated to California from Russia in the 70s and raised their three children in the Hollywood Hills. The family held a funeral service and burial for their matriarch at the Forest Lawn Mortuary.

It wasn’t until Demirchayn’s husband died that the family realized that the gravestone for their mother was placed on the wrong grave. It was on the grave adjacent to the grave where her body was buried,

One of the couple’s sons, Chris Demirchayn, came to Forest Lawn Cemetery to make the arrangements for his father to be laid to rest next to their mother. That’s when he was informed of the funeral home’s mistake.

Reports indicate the adult Demirchayn children went to the cemetery with their father, they mourned and prayed at what they thought was their mother’s graveside. They placed flowers there and reportedly decorated a Christmas tree by the grave they thought was hers during the holidays.

While the family did appreciate the funeral home’s honesty, Chris indicated that it just added to their grief. Christ first told KTLA, “I feel betrayed because we have been speaking to an empty plot”.

Forest Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary corrected their error and moved the gravestone to the correct grave right away. The family has filed a lawsuit against the mortuary. They are seeking compensation for the funeral home’s gross negligence.

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On August 4, Canyon News did a gas price comparison between now and four years ago. Today, ARCO in Hollywood is selling unleaded gasoline for $6.09 a gallon or $5.99 a gallon if paying customers are using cash. Chevron is charging $5.27 per gallon while Mobil gas and 7-11 are up to $5.27

According to Gas Buddy Shell gas stations are charging $5.20 per gallon, Speedway, $5.21, and at Mobil and 7-Eleven the cost is $5.25 per gallon.

At these gas stations, gas prices are fluctuating up to $1.10 per gallon.

An AI search for Hollywood Hills indicates the following: Clark #459 $4.99 per gallon, Chevron #90458, $5.79, Sunset Oil Mobil, $5.39, Ampm, $5.09, Shell $5.19, and Mobil $5.29.

According to the Los Angeles Almanac, the average U.S. price per gallon of regular (unleaded) gasoline in January 2020 in Hollywood Hills was $3.42 per gallon. In June of 2022, the price hiked to $6.16 per gallon.

The almanac noted the following observation:

“In June 2022, a new average monthly regular gasoline price record of $6.16 [per gallon] was set for the Los Angeles region. It was the fourth month in a row in which a monthly record was set.

During that month, weekly average prices for a gallon of regular gasoline reached $6.23.

Although the Los Angeles Region ended the last month of 2022 with an average gasoline price lower than a year prior, its 2022 annual average price was the highest on record for the region.”

On March 1, 2022, President Joe Biden announced that he would allow the release of 30 million barrels of gasoline from U.S. oil reserves. Prior to that, the Biden Administration was holding back from using what was in reserve.

A new advertisement from the Trump Campaign states that gas prices doubled during the Biden Administration.

On January 16, 2024, VERIFY Fact-Check results indicate that is true. Here are the results:

“Former President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign recently released a 30-second ad comparing the two presidents’ records on the economy.”

The ad claims that gas prices, mortgage rates, income, and retirement savings were better during the Trump presidency than under Biden.

When President Biden took office in January of 2021, the average price of a gallon of gas in the United States was $2.42, according to the Energy Information Administration.

By June of 2022, that price had risen to $5.03 per gallon, more than double the original amount. Experts said at the time this spike was driven in part by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the ensuing sanctions against Russia, a major oil exporter, as well as demand for oil post-COVID rebounding faster than supply chains.”

A full report may be found on the VERIFY website.

On July 26, 2024, the Shale Report posted an article entitled, “Where Does Kamala Harris Stand On U.S. Energy.”

In the Shale Report, the author, Felicity Bradstock, reminds viewers that as Attorney General, Kamala Harris filed lawsuits against oil and gas companies.  In 2015, she supported former President Barack Obama’s Clean Power Plan.  When serving as Senator, Harris endorsed many of Joe Biden’s energy policies.

While struck in traffic, my car was approached aggressively by one of these riders leading to an unsettling confrontation. In an attempt to assess any damage, I exited my car. This action, unfortunately, escalated into a physical altercation, which I navigated to protect myself. I am relieved to report that my daughter and I are both completely unscathed, but the incident has left me deeply concerned about the growing boldness of such groups who disrupt public safety and peace. This situation highlights a large issue of hooliganism on our streets and the need for effective law enforcement responses, to such behavior.

As a citizen and a parent, I find it unacceptable that groups can freely engage in this kind of behavior, causing fear and chaos, while the response from authorities seems insufficient. I have always been an advocate for standing up against intimidation and misconduct, and this incident reinforces my belief in the importance of personal and community safety. We must address the underlying issues that lead to such disruptive behavior and ensure that our streets are safe for everyone. I urge city officials and law enforcement to take decisive action against such lawlessness and provide the necessary resources to prevent future occurrences. I am thankful for the support of my family, friends, and fans during this time. It’s in challenging moments like these that the strength and unity of our community are most vital. Happy new year.”
