Authorities have not yet revealed the name of the person. Homicide detectives of the Los Angeles Police Department have been investigating the disappearance of the teen for months.

The LAPD have been able to use this social media data and the cell phone data of the singer D4vd, who is now a suspect, to determine that this second person visited the Hollywood Hills impound lot.

In addition, the authorities suspect that this person was in the vehicle, where the body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez was discovered. No arrests have been made in the case. The investigation is ongoing.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) stated on its website they are aware of the recent stories posted by various media outlets about the D4vd/Celeste Rivas investigation and would like to dispel some misinformation contained in their reporting.

The body of Celeste Rivas was not frozen when it was discovered on September 8, 2025. She had not been decapitated. We have evidence that D4vd travelled to the Santa Barbara area sometime during Spring 2025. The reason for that trip is still under investigation and no conclusions at this point about the relevance of the trip to this case.

As far as the court order, the LAPD sought to seal the records of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s investigation into Celeste Rivas’ death. That order was sought only to ensure detectives from Robbery-Homicide Division learned of important information surrounding her death before the media and the public. The order was not sought to undermine transparency.

Lopes was charged in case 25CJCF07314 with one felony count of forcible lewd act upon a child under 14. He also faces allegations of aggravated kidnapping and infliction of bodily harm on a child under 14 years old.

On the evening of November 5, the defendant is accused of approaching the victim inside a Hollywood restaurant, taking her to a closed area out of public view and physically and sexually assaulting her.

He pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on November 10. His preliminary hearing setting is scheduled for December 12 in Department 33 of the Foltz Criminal Justice Center. He is being held on no bail. If convicted as charged, the defendant faces a maximum sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

The case is being prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Jeff Megee of the Sex Crimes Division Stuart House and remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.

The LAPD reported on November 6, Josue Lopes (also known as David Lopez), 37, of Los Angeles, was arrested in the Westlake area. Lopes were identified as a suspect in the kidnapping and sexual assault of a minor female in the Hollywood region. He was taken into custody and booked for sexual assault (booking #7122917).

This is an ongoing investigation involving cooperation between detectives from the LAPD’s Juvenile Division-Stuart House Unit and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office Sex Crime Unit. Detectives believe there may be additional unidentified victims due to the brazen and serious nature of the assault.

The LAPD reported that in September 2025, the suspect applied to rent apartments at two different locations in the Hollywood and Larchmont areas. The suspect used other individuals’ personal identification information to complete rental applications and provided counterfeit cashier’s checks to property management companies as part of the process.

The suspect is described as a Black male with dreadlocks and a beard or goatee and is also known as “Igor.” Detectives are releasing the suspect’s photo because they believe there may be additional victims, including rental and property management companies that may have been targeted.

There was a well-involved fire and exposing two additional structures: a motel to the east and another single-family home to the south. Firefighters coordinated a defensive attack on the primary structure and prioritized protection of the other two buildings.

The fire was knocked down in 40 minutes with a total of 59 firefighters on scene. There were no reports of any injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Resources with the LAFD and Los Angeles Police Department were on scene for a chemical investigation of two, one-gallon bottles of an unknown liquid taped to the front doors of a bank.

There are no reported medical complaints, and it is a static situation. By 12:40 p.m. officials indicated that after a thorough investigation by both LAPD and LAFD, the liquid inside the bottles was identified as a type of resin/polymer and was determined not to be a hazard.

The materials were removed, and any affected businesses/areas were reopened. There were no reported medical complaints. The LAFD indicated there were no additional details to report.

One car overturned and was on fire following a police pursuit. Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the vehicle and a small amount of grass that caught fire secondarily. There were no additional victims located, either in the car or in the surrounding region.

Scene management was transferred to law enforcement. The cause of the crash is under investigation with officials. No additional details about the incident have been disclosed to the public.

At 5:59 p.m. the LAFD noted the fire was actually at 722 N St Andrews Place. A total of 93 firefighters took just 25 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish fire in one second floor unit of a 2,966 square foot two-story apartment building (built 1948).

There were no reports of any injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The lease on the room started last February. Mladen Trifunovic is the owner of the house.  He was unaware that D4vd was staying at the residence until the property manager informed him of the search that was being conducted by the Police.  In the room, the officers found several electronic devices and computers.

D4vd is cooperating with the investigation.   The Police have identified no suspect, and it is uncertain how the remains of Celeste Rivas Hernandez ended up in the back of the Tesla vehicle.

TMZ first reported that the mother of the missing teen had a distinct tattoo that was a positive match for her daughter. Forensics confirmed her identity. The mother of the victim indicated that her missing daughter had a boyfriend named David.

The Medical Examiner is still investigating the cause of death. A spokesperson for D4VD whose birth name is, David Anthony Burke, said that he is, “fully cooperating with authorities.”

On September 8, Los Angeles County Police Department (LAPD) deputies were called to the tow yard of Hollywood Tow Service due to a foul smell that was coming from a 2023 Tesla that had been sitting in the impound lot.

Investigators on the scene discovered a badly decomposed body stuffed into a bag in the front trunk of the Tesla that was registered in Hempstead, Texas to David Anthony Burke.

Firefighters initiated their investigation inside the home; they located two patients in distress (age/gender/condition unknown at this time). Firefighters are conducting simultaneous rescue operations and interior fire attack on the second floor. There are no other structures exposed.

By 9:35 a.m. the fire was under control. The first arriving 32 firefighters located and extinguished a fire on the second floor in 21 minutes. The two patients rescued from the home are being assessed/treated by firefighter/paramedics and their conditions are unknown at this time

First responding companies report one vehicle on fire, with flames burning uphill through medium-heavy brush toward one hillside home. Air and ground resources from both LAFD and LA County Fire were sent en route.

Approximately a 1/4 acre of heavy vegetation was burning uphill. There were no structures currently involved, but several homes uphill were threatened and being prioritized for structure defense. Water drops from LAFD helicopters significantly slowed fire progress below the homes. Approximately 80 LAFD personnel were dispatched, including air resources and hand crews.

By 7:30 p.m., officials reported all active flames have been extinguished and forward progress stopped. Helicopters will continue water drops between homes to cool hotspots, while hand crews begin working toward 100 percent containment on the very steep terrain. Shelter-in-place orders issued for Genasys zones LFD-0817, LFD-0819, and LFD-0911 (bit.ly/sunset-plaza-ic), which were later lifted. There were no injuries reported.

The fire was showing from one second floor unit of a two-story apartment building. By 5:28 p.m., the LAFD indicated that the first arriving 30 LAFD firefighters took just 15 minutes to access, confine and fully extinguish fire within the second floor of a two-story ascending hillside apartment building.

There were no reports of any injury. Though a lithium-ion battery may have been involved in the fire, the specific cause of the blaze is under active investigation with the Fire Department.
