HOLLYWOOD—There are not many TV series that I watch that leave me speechless. When I say that I’m not necessarily referring to shock value, I’m referring to each episode getting better and better as the season progresses. There have only been like 2 series as long as I have lived that have accomplished that feat for ME: “Breaking Bad” and the first season of “Empire.” I now want to add another series to that list, HBO’s “IT: Welcome to Derry.”

I have never been a fan of any type of horror that places children in serious danger. It is just something I don’t want to see in my TV or movies. However, we have seen a trend as of late of Hollywood placing children in danger more and more, see “Stranger Things” people. With that said, the children in this series are fantastic, just fantastic. The acting from these young thespians is amazing and the character development is so strong it is unforgettable when you watch.

The actress who portrays Lilly is the heart of the series in my eyes. The plight this little girl has endured is just devastating. To make matters worse she is grappling with her father’s death, a evil entity threatening her and her friends and questions about her mental state is constantly spiraling.

Then you have Ronnie who is the fighter of the group who says what’s on her mind with no apologies along the way. I love the ferocity of the character who is determined to ensure her father is not jailed for a crime he didn’t commit. This is Derry, Maine by the way people, so be aware of that racial tension that plays to some degree in the narrative.

There is Rich, the band geek who has an affection for Marge, who is determined to stay by the side of the popular girls even if it’s to the detriment of her closet friend Lilly. Marge suffered an unholy fate when it came to one of her eyes thanks to that evil entity, known as Pennywise, who didn’t really make his presence known until episode 5 in the allusion of Matty.

Yes, indeed it was a reveal, and if this series has taught me anything and I mean anything, it’s the fact that NO CHARACTER IS SAFE and that absolutely raises the stakes for the viewers. Why? When you’re watching you don’t know if you’re going to be gob smacked liked the ending from the first episode or if you’re just keeping your fingers crossed that one of the characters you care about actually survives.

You also have the Halloran and the Leroy Hanlon of it all. Halloran has the ability to see things he shouldn’t and has become an experiment that he’s experimenting with. While his son Will, is doing all in his power to get his father to open his eyes to the terror that is haunting the town and leading to the disappearance of all these kids and people in Derry. I absolutely love Taylour Paige as Will’s mother Charlotte, who knows something is wrong and refuses to turn a blind eye to things.

Episode 5 really threw me for the loop, because SPOILER ALERT stop reading if you don’t want to know. I thought Lilly was a goner after her pals left her behind when Pennywise made his big reveal. However, just when we thought it was over for Lilly, she discovered that relic, and that relic was vital because it stopped the evil clown in his tracks.

Lilly is no idiot and knows that Pennywise can be halted with that relic; he’s afraid of it and cannot cross that boundary. This last episode, jeez, didn’t see that coming a million miles away involving Ingrid Persh and her connection to the evil clown and this desire to reunite with her father. Whew, talk about a twist I didn’t see coming a million miles away.

We only have 2 episodes left before the season culminates, and the prediction for episode 7 if you’re seen the movie, you know what happens and the season finale which has been touted in the teaser trailers indicate more bad things to come. Bring Kleenex and prepare for the worst because this series is a rollercoaster, where you don’t know what to expect. New episodes of “IT: Welcome to Derry” airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on HBO.

LOS ANGELES– In a move shocking the sports landscape, the Los Angeles Clippers cut Chris Paul on Wednesday,  December 3 The future Hall of Famer was signed less than two months ago, announcing that this was indeed his final season.

“Just Found Out I’m Being Sent Home,” Paul, 40, wrote on Instagram on Wednesday . CP3 is one of the greatest point guards in NBA history.

In a statement Lawrence Frank, the Clippers president of basketball operations, confirmed the team is “parting ways with Chris, and he will no longer be with the team.”

At a dismal 5-16 record, the Clippers are one of the league’s worst franchises. Paul repeatedly complained about the direction the team was taking.

Paul has averaged 2.9 points this season, his 21st, with 15 appearances and no starts. He played Monday, where the Clippers lost to the Miami Heat, scoring 8 points and recording three assists.

“I want to make one thing very clear. No one is blaming Chris for our underperformance. I accept responsibility for the record we have right now. There are a lot of reasons why we’ve struggled. We’re grateful for the impact Chris has made on the franchise.”

Paul, known as “CP3,” is a modern basketball great, second on the all-time assists list with more than 12,500, and has been an NBA All-Star 12 times.

This is Paul’s second stint with the Clippers, having played for the team during a hugely successful six seasons from 2011 to 2017.

Fans and teammates are surprised and disappointed it ended this way. No fairwell tour for the fans to thank Paul one final timefor his greatness on and off the court.

Paul’s leadership style clashed with Clippers management, specifically coach Tyronn Lue. Lue and Paul were not on speaking terms for several weeks, and Paul was reportedly vocal in holding management, coaches and players accountable.

The organization felt his behavior was disruptive. Paul is arguably the best Clipper in franchise history, leading the team in assists (4,076) and analytics metrics such as plus/minus (8.3) and value over replacement (36.6).

Paul has not stated whether he will sign with another team or retire.

Owning a defective vehicle can be frustrating, costly, and stressful—but California consumers don’t have to face it alone. Lemon Law Help by Knight Law Group is a leading consumer advocacy firm specializing in automotive lemon law in Los Angeles and other locations in California, with over 15 years of experience helping car buyers and lessees recover maximum compensation. Unlike other firms that settle quickly, Lemon Law Help takes a strategic, relentless approach—often going all the way to trial and even the California Supreme Court—to deliver results that far exceed standard settlements.

Understanding California Lemon Law

A vehicle qualifies as a lemon if it has a serious defect that hasn’t been repaired after a reasonable number of attempts under the manufacturer’s warranty. This includes safety issues or other significant problems that substantially impair the vehicle’s use, value, or safety.

California law also includes the Lemon Law Presumption, a legal advantage that applies when a vehicle experiences persistent safety issues, recurring mechanical problems, or extended time out of service early in its life. When a case meets this presumption, the burden shifts to the manufacturer to prove the vehicle is not defective, often resulting in faster resolutions and higher settlements. Even if a vehicle doesn’t meet the presumption criteria, consumers can still pursue a strong claim with documentation of ongoing defects and their impact on daily use.

A Proven Record of Maximum Compensation

Lemon Law Help’s approach is different. While many firms focus on speed, the team prioritizes quality outcomes by pursuing additional damages, including civil penalties, which can increase settlements two to three times what other firms typically recover. This strategy has led to record-breaking results for clients, including:

  • $1.4 million awarded to Charles Margeson (Ford, 2017)

  • $2.8 million to Leonard Coon (Ford, 2018)

  • $1.9 million to Valerie and Robert Brown (Ford, 2018)

  • $8.1 million to Jerry and Shawn Nolan (Ford, 2018)

These results reflect a commitment to going beyond statutory minimums and holding manufacturers fully accountable.

Client-Focused, Results-Driven Approach

Led by managing partner Roger Kirnos, Lemon Law Help combines legal expertise, industry knowledge, and a personalized approach. The team offers free case reviews, contingency-fee representation, remote consultations, and services in multiple languages to support California’s diverse population. They guide clients through every step of the process, handling the heavy lifting so individuals can focus on moving forward with a dependable vehicle.

“We roll up our sleeves and do the work,” says Kirnos. “We’re not afraid to take cases to trial, and our mission is simple: ensure every client receives a vehicle they can trust while holding manufacturers accountable under the law.”

For California residents dealing with a lemon, Lemon Law Help provides a proven path to justice. With a 99% success rate and thousands of satisfied clients, the firm continues to set the standard for high-quality, results-driven lemon law representation.

If you believe you may have a lemon, contact Lemon Law Help today for a free case review and start pursuing the compensation you deserve.

UNITED STATES—Lupe, Lupe, Lupe, can you believe it? Christmas is not even here, and, in an odd way, it would seem that it is already behind us, but this is not so. There are parti-color lights to hang and a simulacrum of a Christmas tree to be obtained. Kind reader, let me turn the narrative over to Lupe herself:

My master is at quite a crossroads. He just returned from walking little Baby DeVille, the obedient Chihuahua-Terrier, exasperated beyond belief. Not the Chihuahua, but my master from whom I withhold the last iota of responsiveness. The weekly pressure of turning out another felicitous episode of ‘I Love Lupe’ is hard upon him. This mental tension, added to the roulette of passwords, is quite enough to unhinge the poor fellow. True, I am a canine creature bursting, nay bloated, with unconditional love. Yet that does not preclude me from some more sophisticated emotions, such as schadenfreude. Heaven knows why they say it’s a dog-eat-dog world: from my perch, on the blue-velour couch, it seems to be a human-eat-human sort of world.

My master, for example, got inside the gate of the house, open and shut in nanoseconds. Deep satisfaction derives from having successfully rewired his reflexes. Then once inside the front door, he slid his back down, exhaling deeply, already unhinged by the indulgences of the little Chihuahua-terrier who’s always game for a walk. My sidekick. Of course, what human wouldn’t be fazed by the dog sniffing at every nugget of carnitas left on the sidewalk by the taco stand. Sussing out every last morsel of carne asada, and the spicy fried chicken, laden with golden garlic and red pepper infused batter that could wreak all kinds of havoc with a dog’s digestion.

I won’t budge from the couch. But then his daughter brought me, paws first, a connoisseur of anarchy, the supreme sower of chaos, into their lives. Even now, as this self-styled scribe seeks to scale the hillock of yet another episode of ‘I Love Lupe,’ all kinds of mayhem is brewing outside. The demonic rescue dog was assaulting a visitor to our humble abode. Had she bitten the hand of our guest. Like pruning bougainvillea without gloves, each Lupecentric encounter extracted its drop of blood. Moments earlier, she was up to her shenanigans, slipping out the gate when her chief dominatrix, guard down ever so briefly, let the gate swing wide open. Off Lupe ran.

She zipped in the direction of a fabled Hollywood boulevard that turns into a freeway when it’s the hour to drive home. The master relaxed, he sought to relinquish the fear that there’s be tragedy if the erratic Lupe got loose the roadway. The task of the day had been to parse the snowballing of fear. And how folks with an inordinate weakness for lager beer are wont to build snowflakes of distress into avalanches.

My master, in the course of Thanksgiving had had a misadventure of sorts. One that had suddenly exiled him from life’s most reliable pleasures.

To be continued…

HOLLYWOOD—One thing is for certain, after last week’s episode of “Survivor 49” Rizo and Savannah have got to be humbled for me to root for them. Rizo is too arrogant, and Savannah does not realize she is not the hero of her own story. This week’s episode, ‘Cherry on Top’ saw Sage fuming about the move that was made against her.

Kristina was in scrambles with the move, and it was apparent that idol is now back in play, or probably not. Rizo admitted that his fake idol wasn’t as big of a move as he thinks. Yeah, Rizo I don’t think the jury loves the move as much as you think. Sophie tried to do some cleaning up with Steven and Kristina, but I don’t know if she may have placed a bigger target on her back.

Sophie tried speaking with Sage, and it didn’t go well at all. Sage was seeing red and she was livid. Sophi was being a third wheel, when she didn’t need to be invited into that conversation. What Rizo did is going to cost him Sage’s vote if he makes it to the final 3, mark my words right now.

The annoying trio continued to annoy me, as it became clear that Savannah, Rizo and Sophi. Yes, Sophi, you are at the bottom of those 3. You ARE GOING TO HAVE TO MAKE A MOVE AT SOME POINT to have a resume that makes the jury respect you. Sophi made the right move in going toe-to-toe with Sage to gather her as a number. Sage was not buying Sophi would turn on Rizo and Savannah. Sage has her daggers on Sophie and is determined to take her out.

A boat arrives, and Steven wanted that potential advantage. Why do we have to continue having twists this late in the game. We really don’t need this Jeff Probst and “Survivor” producers. Really no one wanted to take the journey, expect for Steven. Kudos to him. I would have done the same thing. Sophie was pointing her target at Steven, oh, what a coincidence. Sophie and Sophi decided they should start to consider alternative options like Savannah and Rizo.

If you all didn’t want Steven to leave with an advantage you all shouldn’t have allowed him to get on the boat, dummies. Great losing a vote again, and the advantage at the same time. This better be a great advantage to have to do all of this? I was so happy to see Steven accomplish the task and get this advantage that allows him to: block a vote from another player. He must choose before leaving for Tribal Council that he must reveal who’s vote he is blocking. Oh, I love this advantage. Keep it secret, but it would be nice if he had the opportunity to block 2 votes that would be even more powerful.

Steven was trying to figure out how to navigate this advantage. I would LIE, simply tell them you lost your vote, but he was honest that he finished the task and won an advantage. Steven pegged that Rizo started thinking of scenarios. I like that. Rizo was right on with Steven having a block a vote, however, who the hell would tell someone what advantage they have earned. Damn I forget about Sophi’s Knowledge is Power advantage. It is NOT a steal a vote, it’s a vote blocked. So, there will ONLY be 6 votes. Forgot Sophi can’t steal his advantage because it happens before Tribal Council.

Rizo was being too cocky per usual, and it looks like this is the balance beam challenge where you have to spell the word ‘IMMUNITY.’ Looks like they have made it a bit more complicated with the platform spinning as you try to spell the word. Yeah, this spinning aspect makes things SO MUCH HARDER. Some of these challenges are already difficult, why make it any harder people. Yes, so excited to see Steven win that immunity with his back against the wall. I swear if Kristina is booted, I’m going to riot, as that is 5 Black people in a row.

Steven is not only safe, but he has a chance to connect with an ally and share food. Kristina was offered a chance to join Steven in the feast. I was not expecting Steven to extend an olive branch to Rizo, but that opens the door for a bit of fun if you ask me. Rizo you are only cozying up because you cannot vote out Steven. Of course, Rizo wanted to vote out yellow Sophie. This is what is going to cause Rizo the game, he’s burning jury votes with his moves unfortunately. Steven realized his block a vote is much stronger at 6 than at 7. Kristina made it clear she doesn’t like Savannah and wants her out of the game.

I knew Sage would hold that move Sophie made last week against Jawan was not good for her game. Back at camp, Rizo alerted Sophi of the plan, as Sophi spilled that Yellow Sophie wants Savannah out of the game. Steven realized that the votes potentially could NOT be there to take Savannah out of the game. Sophi was starting to question the level of power she has in the game and could consider striking at Savannah.

Another Tribal Council, where the theatrics are in play, but does it truly matter? Of course not, and no one actually cares. Spicy, it is apparent that Savannah and Kristina do not like one another, and I want to know precisely why? The biggest problem with “Survivor 49” is none of these Tribal Councils have been exciting at all. it is a level of boredom that just doesn’t change. The fact that the jury did not seem pleased with that vote out tells me Savannah and Rizo are going to have a hard time with this jury.

We are being teased something epic next episode, that has been taunted all season long, but I am not crossing my fingers “Survivor 49” fanatics!

WESTWOOD– Walking off the field Saturday night at the Coliseum, after bitter Crosstown Rival USC had just smashed them 29-10, it felt like rock bottom for the UCLA Bruins

On Monday,  December 1, UCLA announced the hiring of Bob Chesney to be the next Head Coach of the UCLA football program.

Chesney is currently coaching James Madison University, leading the Dukes to a phenomenal 11-1 record this season. He has a reputation for quickly turning the program around in a hurry.

After a disastrous 3-9 mark, firing former Head Coach DeShaun Foster early in the season and uncertainty surrounding their future at the Rose Bowl- the Bruins are banking on Chesney revamping the team and inspiring hope.

Since 2018, UCLA has only had three winning seasons, and it hasn’t won 10 games since 2014. The Bruins also haven’t won a conference title in the 21st century.

Once Chesney’s hiring is finalized, UCLA gets a coach with a consistent track record of winning, as athletic director Martin Jarmond and the UCLA search committee quickly began the arduous process.

Chesney, a Pennsylvania native, brings a background as an assistant coach on both defense and special teams. He has also developed a reputation as a turnaround artist, as he has resuscitated struggling programs at Division III Salve, and turned FCS Holy Cross into a high-level winner.

Along with being 20-5 at JMU, he’s 131-51 overall as a college head coach over 16 seasons.

“He had an appreciation for UCLA, the academics and the Big Ten,” said a source familiar with the process. “He also had a detailed plan on how to turn the program around.”

Searching for the Bruins next head coach involved a special comitee looking to find the leader to spearhead this iconic school.

The committee viewed Chesney’s background through small college football and his knack of turning around programs as positives. Since arriving in the Big Ten, UCLA is 8-16 overall, bringing about a wake-up call that more investment is needed.

Welcome to UCLA coach Chesney.

HOLLYWOOD—Victoria and Jason went toe-to-toe last week on “The Oval.” That mayhem continued in this week’s episode, ‘Lies and Alibis’ where Jason asked the question, we’ve all wanted to know: WHERE IS GAIL? The audience have wanted that question answered since season 1. Jason threatened death upon his mother, while Hunter refused to acknowledge that Jason is troubled. This is one time where I’m all on Victoria’s side with the truth; you might not like what she is saying, but she speaks the truth with no regret.

Lilly spilled tea to Priscilla about her ordeal with Donald, as Simone was given advice on when to strike to get revenge on Victoria for sleeping with Eli. What are we spending so much time on this unnecessary dialogue that is a back and forth between Bobby and Max? I’m starting to realize that Tyler Perry just drafts scenes together to give his characters screentime, even if there is no purposed to the narrative at all.

Here we go again with a pointless scene with more dialogue than we need between Richard and Sam. Dare I say this, it’s time for Richard and Nancy to go. They are bringing nothing to the table that makes me care about either character. Kyle and Donald chatted about their predicament, just as Eli found himself having to negotiate with a top crisis manager in Constance, who demanded to meet with Hunter and Victoria to know precisely what has unfolded. It was smart to have Hunter vet Constance because I got the same feeling when she entered, ‘The Oval;’ something about this woman just isn’t adding up.

Constance paid a visit to Allan looking for the Chief of Staff, which raised a flag with Allan upon realizing that he wasn’t what she expected. This totally feels like a filler episode, with absolutely no story movement AT ALL. Just characters sharing scenes and talking in circles. We are getting a lot of flashbacks in this episode; I feel those flashbacks are happening for a reason. I’m not sure precisely why.

Jason’s trauma is coming front-and-center, discussing his mother forgetting his birthdays and not showing any affection to her children while she raised them. Jason admitted to Victoria that he was responsible for killing her mother and he relished in her demise. Jason and Victoria bonding over the death of her mother, had Hunter shaken. Again, the question remains: WHERE IS GAIL? Jason tried to make it clear that he planned to take out Hunter, but Hunter made it clear Jason better not try anything.

Victoria made it clear she didn’t know the whereabouts of Gail; that she was sent to a camp to do hard labor; whoa, Gail was sent to that cult camp with ‘The Highest.’ Jason made it clear that Gail is not at that camp. Jason became unnerved threatening Victoria as he taunted having a KNIFE, which he actually did and he stabbed Victoria. Looking forward to next week, where more mayhem is unleashed inside ‘The Oval’ and secrets are revealed. Until next week “The Oval” fanatics!

HOLLYWOOD—Can you believe Christmas is just in four weeks? Many of us have the real trees, while some pit for the artificial ones that come prelate and all you have to do is decorate with personal ornaments. The beautiful trees will cost around $400, with many people shelling out that money instead of going out to tree farms to cut your own down.

It’s the Christmas spirit that truly counts, however when it comes to celebrities, they are known for their elaborate Christmas trees, with many sharing their festive decorations on social media. Many of them include the Kardashian-Jenner family, who are frequently cited for their over-the-top displays, and Joanna Gaines, known for her unique decorating style. Many like Taylor Swift have a string connection to the holiday, partly due to her family-owned Christmas tree farm, and Jennifer Aniston’s special ornaments are always a recurring talking point.

Kardashian’s often feature their elaborate and sometimes unconventional decorations. Kylie Jenner has shared her festive displays, and Kourtney Kardashian is known for her creative approaches, which have included vibrant red trees and even upside-down trees. Kim Kardashian recently revealed her Christmas decoration on Instagram on December 2, 2025. The SKIMS founder revealed countless snow-covered Christmas trees lining the halls of her vast Los Angeles home.

The smell of the pine trees according to Kim, was amazing according to her video story. Keeping up with her indoor forest with twinkle-light clad pine trees throughout the main floor of her home, even including a bundle of trees in the kitchen was breathtaking. The star also pointed out a few Elf on the Shelf inclusions, adding, “Oh I see a little elf hiding in the tree.” In a later clip, Kim, who shares kids North,11, Saint, 9, Chicago,7, and Psalm 5, with ex-husband Kanye “Ye” West-made it clear that she had the Christmas vibes to match her show-stopping decorations as composer Philip Cornish played “Away in a Manger,” on her home piano.

The Kardashian-Jenners are no strangers to doing it big for the most festive time of the year. Momager Kris Jenner opens up about what makes her annual Christmas Eve bash stand out from the rest. She loves to send off her guests with fabulous, fun gifts that they wouldn’t have thought of themselves. The 70-year-old who recently celebrated her birthday bash also in style, says that some of her kids are easier to shop for than others.

She thinks that Kim is the hardest to shop for, since Kim is very specific and particular in her surrounding, her aesthetic, her door. Khloe’s very similar to her mom. Kylie and Kendall love the nostalgia of it all. Kourtney loves all of it and Rob’s very much like we all are. I’m sure she does very well, shopping for her six children and 13, yes 13 grandkids.

Many other celebrities such as Kelly Ripa, Reese Witherspoon, Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez, also share their Christmas tree and home decor each year. This year will most likely be a repeat of other years. Where the trend of families dressing in matching Christmas pajamas originated in the 1950s, when department store catalogs began featuring coordinated sleepwear for the whole family.

This was part of larger cultural emphasis on the nuclear family and domestic life after World War II. While no single person started it, modern social media has significantly revived and amplified the trend, with celebrities and social influencers plating a major role. So the 1950s, began with stores like Sears, Montgomery Ward, started showcasing matching family pajamas with holiday motifs. The mid-20th century trend was partly a response to the post-war emphasis on the nuclear family and the domestic sphere.

It began its revival a major resurgence in the 2010s thanks to social media, notably with a viral YouTube music video called “Christmas Jammies” in 2013. So celebrities and social media influencers continue to popularize matching pajamas, driving sales and inspiring a new generation to adopt the tradition. Will see on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok all the posts that will reflect this trend. I believe that even Mark Zuckerberg charmed in.

Rose’s Scoop: Black Friday and Cyber Monday was a hit, despite the concerns of the economy, shoppers still flooded the malls and did online shopping.

UNITED STATES—Eddy Arias is not your typical novelist. With extensive experience as a senior-level entertainment executive, he imbues his storytelling with insight honed from navigating the complex world of film and television. His debut novel, ALICIA, is more than just a book; it’s a psychological drama that captivates readers with its intricately crafted characters and unexpected twists, transforming the reading experience into something akin to watching a gripping film.

ALICIA: A Psychological Drama

ALICIA begins with an immersive narrative that grips readers from the first paragraph. Arias masterfully presents a psychological drama that transcends geographic boundaries and speaks to universal themes, making it relatable to a broad audience. The characters in the novel are meticulously articulated, and the plot is filled with shocking turns that keep readers on the edge of their seats. Arias attributes the depth of his writing to his personal and professional experiences, drawing from the myriad situations he encountered in the entertainment industry.

The Dynamics Between Studios and Independent Creatives

In a recent interview with Canyon News, Arias explored how studios could better collaborate with independent creatives. He notes, “Studios are at their best when they treat independent creators as partners rather than vendors.” Arias emphasizes that fostering a nurturing environment for writers, directors, and producers allows for experimentation and authentic expression, ultimately leading to original storytelling. He believes that when creators feel trusted, they produce work that resonates more deeply with audiences; conversely, micromanagement stifles creativity and results in formulaic projects.

Arias doesn’t view writing as a departure from his career as an executive, but as an expansion of everything he already does. His path has always been multifaceted—lawyer, filmmaker, entrepreneur, educator—and becoming an author is simply the latest dimension of that creative and professional identity. “For me, it was never about leaving one world for another,” he reflects. “It was about embracing the power of ‘and’ instead of ‘or.'”

The Impact of Streaming Platforms

Digital streaming platforms have fundamentally transformed the entertainment landscape, and Arias recognizes their role in democratizing creative expression. He explains that while traditional theaters require projects to justify large budgets, streaming thrives on diversity and niche storytelling. His work in launching streaming services across numerous countries illuminated how global audiences engage with varied content. This realization filled him with the confidence to bring ALICIA to life, knowing that a powerful story would find its audience.

Building Collaborations and Maintaining Creative Control

Arias dispels the myth that independent creatives require agents or explicit invitations to collaborate with studios. He identifies several entry points for creators looking to build relationships, including participation in labs and fellowships, networking with independent producers, and leveraging social media platforms. He believes that maintaining creative control is possible when artists present a clear vision and well-defined projects, which can give them leverage and respect within the studio system.

The Genesis of ALICIA

The conception of ALICIA began with a single image that Arias envisioned—a missing woman whose absence is profound not merely for her identity but for the child she carries. Initially imagined as a film treatment back in 2008, the story later evolved into a full novel as Arias recognized that a literary format could capture the intricate emotional dynamics and psychological depth he wanted to explore.

The narrative centers on Claire and Andrew Cooper, a wealthy Manhattan couple who hire their undocumented housekeeper, Alicia, as a surrogate. Each character encapsulates a blend of contradictions, portraying a dynamic interplay of control, vulnerability, and survival instincts that propel the story forward.

A Cinematic Approach to Writing

Arias’s background in film profoundly influences his writing style. “I think in images,” he asserts, noting that the structure of ALICIA echoes that of a psychological thriller, replete with short chapters, layered reveals, and intense emotional moments. He aims to merge the essence of literature with cinematic pacing and structure, enhancing the reader’s experience.

Future Endeavors

As for what lies ahead, Arias is not slowing down. ALICIA is being prepared for a screen adaptation, with conversations under way with producers and industry experts. At the same time, he is actively working on a new novel, part of a trilogy that promises to be commercially viable while offering creative freedom.

In his ambitious journey of storytelling, Eddy Arias exemplifies how a versatile career can inform and enrich the creative process, allowing him to bridge the worlds of literature and film with unique authenticity.

ALICIA is available for purchase on Amazon lhttps://a.co/d/4mNl51J or the official website www.aliciathebook.com.

UNITED STATES—Early pregnancy decisions can feel heavy, even when your instincts feel clear. A supportive clinic experience can steady the moment. Clear information, respectful care, and a simple plan can turn overwhelm into manageable steps. This is where the right kind of clinical support matters.

This article explains how clinic-based care helps people navigate early pregnancy decisions with calm, dignity, and practical support, while keeping control in the hands of the person making the decision.

A Clinic Brings Clarity, Not Pressure

In early pregnancy, uncertainty can snowball. People often feel stuck because they do not know what applies to them or what to do first. A clinic helps by turning a confusing situation into clear information and realistic options.

A reputable abortion clinic centers on the client, not an agenda. Staff explain what care looks like, what timelines usually mean, and what the next steps involve. They also communicate in plain language, so the process feels understandable rather than intimidating.

Supportive care looks like listening. It looks like answering concerns without judgment. It looks like giving space for someone to decide without being rushed. For many people, that alone reduces stress.

A clinic also helps with accuracy. Early pregnancy timing and symptoms vary. Clinical guidance helps separate normal variation from issues that need attention, and it helps people avoid misinformation that spreads easily online.

Early Evaluation Helps People Feel Grounded

Early pregnancy can come with vague symptoms and a lot of guessing. A clinic visit provides structure. A clinician can review your health history, discuss symptoms, and confirm details that affect care. That creates a steadier foundation for decision-making.

This early evaluation supports both physical and emotional well-being. It helps people understand what is happening in their bodies. It also helps people name what they need, whether that is time, privacy, pain control, financial support, or simply reassurance.

Many clinics also help people prepare with practical guidance for what they can expect from an in-clinic abortion. That may include what to bring, breaking down the procedure’s steps, and how recovery typically feels. Clear expectations reduce fear.

A supportive clinic also makes space for real-life constraints. People often juggle tight schedules, transportation, childcare, and safety needs. The clinic can help map a plan that fits those realities, not an ideal scenario.

Care Options Become Easier to Understand and Compare

In early pregnancy, people often hear general terms without context. An abortion clinic helps make the details understandable. Staff explain what options are available for your timing and what each option involves.

Many people are deciding between medication abortion and in-clinic care, depending on eligibility and preference. A clinic helps clarify what the process usually looks like, what discomfort to expect, and how follow-up support works. That makes the decision feel less abstract.

A clinic also helps people think through what matters most to them. Some people prioritize privacy at home. Some want the structure of an in-person visit. Some prioritize speed, cost, or support during the process. Those preferences are personal, and good care respects them. A useful way to sort priorities includes:

  • Privacy needs,
  • Scheduling limits,
  • Comfort preferences,
  • Support system,
  • Cost concerns,
  • Transportation,

Practical Support Removes Common Barriers

Decision-making gets harder when logistics pile up. Clinics can remove friction by offering clear pricing information, help with paperwork, and guidance on what to do next. Many also connect people with funding support or community resources when available.

Access also includes communication. People often need to talk through what they are experiencing, especially if they feel isolated. A clinic team can offer calm, stigma-free information and support that does not depend on someone else approving your choice.

Telehealth can also broaden access. For some people, virtual care means less travel, more privacy, and simpler scheduling. For others, in-person care feels more reassuring. A clinic can help people choose the setting that fits their needs and comfort.

Follow-Up Support Helps People Feel Safe Afterward

People often put all their energy into getting through the appointment. Then afterward, they are tired and still a little on edge. That is normal. Follow-up support can make that phase feel much easier.

Clear recovery guidance matters. Knowing what is typical helps you relax. Knowing what needs medical attention helps you feel safe. It also keeps you from sitting alone with worries you do not have to carry.

Emotions can show up in different ways, too. Some people feel relief. Some feel sadness. Some feel calm. Some feel a mix that changes from one day to the next. A supportive clinic treats those feelings as normal. No one reaction gets labeled as right or wrong.

Follow-up can also include referrals for other reproductive health needs and contraception counseling for those who want it. The point stays the same. Support is available, and your choices still lead.

Advising and Supporting Early Pregnancy Decisions

Early pregnancy decisions can feel intense because they collide with time, privacy, money, and emotion all at once. Supportive clinical care can make the experience feel less isolating and less overwhelming.

A good abortion clinic offers clear information, nonjudgmental support, and practical help that fits real life. It helps people confirm the details that matter, understand options, and take the next step without getting swallowed by fear.

Most importantly, it keeps control with the person making the decision. You deserve respect, privacy, and care that treats you like a whole human, not a situation to be managed.

WASHINGTON DC—On December 2, the U.S. Department of Justice announced in a press release announcing federal charges filed against, Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, 30, an Afghan National who was residing in Fort Worth, TX.

Alokozay faces 5 years in prison if convicted after threatening to build a bomb and conduct a suicide attack that would kill Americans. He posted a video on social media sites including Facebook, X and TikTok, stating his intent, describing how he would carry out his task.

The DOJ posted the video that depicted an angry Alokozay speaking in his native language (Dari) while engaged with two others who were also on the call. Alokozay spoke of his devotion to the Taliban, to the others on the phone, admitting that his purpose for being in the United States was to kill them, with a suicide attack.

According to the DOJ complaint, he stated that he was not afraid to die. U.S. Attorney General, Pam Bondi, made the following statement regarding this arrest:

“This Afghan national came into America during the Biden administration and is alleged, explicitly stated that he came here in order to kill American citizens.

The public safety threat created by the Biden administration’s vetting breakdown cannot be overstated. The Department of Justice will continue working with our federal and state partners to protect the American people from the prior administration’s dangerous incompetence.”

Alokozay is currently in police custody pending his initial appearance before the U.S. magistrate.

This investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Field Office in Dallas, TX, in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security, and assistance from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Fort Worth Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney, Vincent Mazzurco of the Northern District of Texas is prosecuting the case.

The Trump administration is blaming the Biden administration for the numerous attacks from within by Afghan Nationals. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) under the reign of former President Joe Biden agreed to resettle “Afghan allies,” into the United States.

There are photographs of Afghan evacuees packed into a Boeing jet traveling from Afghanistan to the United States. Reports indicate that that shooter of the U.S. National Guard soldiers in Washington D.C. that happened the day before Thanksgiving, came into the U.S. during that Biden-era program in 2021.

Democrat leaders are suggesting the U.S. promised to protect their Afghan allies. Republicans disagree. Alokozay’s attorney is pleading not guilty on behalf of his client indicating that Alokozay, who was once reportedly a trusted CIA operative in Afghanistan who is now suffering from PTSD.

On December 1, a makeshift memorial for the two National Guardsman who were gunned down while deployed in Washington D.C. to help restore order in the nation’s Capital.

UNITED STATES—Dear Toni, I am currently on COBRA with dental benefits. I will need dental insurance when I lose my COBRA benefits after enrolling in Medicare at 65 in March. The only dental plans I am finding are in Medicare Advantage HMO/PPO plans. The office manager of my cardiologist’s office advised me not to go in the Medicare Advantage direction since Medicare Advantage plans are no longer accepted at his office beginning January 1, 2026. This office only accepting Medicare and group health insurance.

Is there a specific dental plan that Medicare offers? Please advise me what I should do, Toni.–Faye from Memphis, Tenn.

Hello, Faye: “What ISN’T Covered by Part A & Part B?” is explained on page 55-56 of the 2026 Medicare & You handbook. There it states: Medicare doesn’t cover everything. If you need certain services Part A or Part B doesn’t cover, you’ll have to pay for them yourself unless:

            ■ You have other coverage (including Medicaid) to cover the costs.

■ You’re in a Medicare Advantage Plan or Medicare Cost Plan that covers these services. Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Cost Plans may cover some extra benefits, like fitness programs and vision, hearing, and dental services.”

Some of the items and services that Original Medicare does not cover on page 55. They include: long-term care, eye examinations (for prescription eyeglasses and corrective contact lenses),  cosmetic surgery, massage therapy, routine physical exams, hearing aids and exams for fitting them, concierge care and covered items or services you get from a doctor or other provider who has opted out of participating in Medicare. (the last item is discussed further on page 60).

On page 56, the Medicare handbook explains that Original Medicare doesn’t cover dental services like routine cleanings, fillings, tooth extractions, or items like dentures. Original Medicare may pay for dental services that are specific to medical procedures such as a heart valve repair or replacement, an organ transplant, and cancer-related treatments. (Chapter 2 of Toni’s “Medicare Survival Guide Advanced Edition” also discusses what is not covered by Medicare.)

Since Medicare does not cover dental care, I would recommend that you talk to your dentist and see which dental insurance plans he/she prefers.

When buying a dental plan, there are two types of dental plans to pick from:(Verify which type of plan your dentist accepts before buying)

  • Traditional (or indemnity) dental insurance plans: higher in premium, and the preventive services are usually covered at 100%, basic restorative work is covered up to 80% and major procedures at 50%. Recently, new dental plans have been released which help with the cost of dental claims such as fillings, crowns, and root canals. A major surprise is that these plans begin immediately with no wait.
  • Discount dental insurance plans: less expensive than traditional dental plans. These plans provide a discount for services. Your dentist must be part of the plan’s network and agree to give the dental discount.

Faye, you can use either type of dental plan with Original Medicare with or without a Medicare supplement or with a Medicare Advantage plan. Again, make sure that the plan you choose is accepted by the dentist you like.

Another area that Medicare does not cover is vision benefits, which is discussed on page 41 of the 2026 Medicare and You handbook. This is a limited benefit because Medicare will cover one pair of eyeglasses with standard frames (or one set of contact lenses) from a supplier enrolled in Medicare, after each cataract surgery that implants an intraocular lens. The Medicare Part B deductible will apply and after you meet the Part B deductible, you pay 20% of the Medicare-approved amount. Medicare Advantage plans have different costs and copays for vision benefits.

UNITED STATES—Cool season annuals are less diverse than warm season annuals for one simple reason. Flowers prefer to bloom while their favorite pollinators are most active. Most of the better pollinators are insects that are most active during warm weather. Therefore, most flowers want to bloom while the weather is warm. Many colorful berries are similarly exploitative.

For dispersion of their seed, colorful berries rely on birds. Therefore, many ripen and are most colorful as many birds migrate during autumn. Birds consume the berries but do not digest their seed. Instead, as they migrate, they disperse the viable seed. It is a mutually beneficial arrangement. Birds eat all they want. Seed benefits from thorough dispersion.

As they ripen, autumn and winter berries develop bright colors that attract birds. Most are bright red. Some are bright orange. A few are bright yellow. They are substantial enough to satisfy the birds that eat them. Yet, they are compact enough for such birds to eat them whole. Some are impressively abundant, at least until any birds that they feed find them.

Colorful berries are literally for the birds.

That can be a dilemma for home gardening. Many garden enthusiasts grow autumn and winter berries for the color. Many grow them to attract birds, though. More grow them both for their color and to attract birds. The latter is least disappointing. Typically, such berries ripen to display their color faster than birds can eat all of them. Every season is different.

Unfortunately, there are not many options for colorful autumn and winter berries. Some of the species that produce the most colorful fruit are unfortunately thorny. Firethorn notably produces the most abundant, most colorful and most familiar berries. It is horridly thorny, though. So is English hawthorn, which is deciduous and defoliates to expose its red fruit.

Toyon and various cotoneasters are thornless alternatives for colorful berries. Toyon is a native species that grows rather large. Although cotoneasters are not as prolific, cultivars stay proportionate to home gardens. Hollies are dioecious, so female specimens need a male nearby for pollination. Because males are rare, females produce only a few berries.

Highlight: Firethorn

Nothing is lost in translation. The botanical name of Pyracantha coccinea literally means “Firethorn red”. Firethorn is its common name. It produces bright red berries on wickedly thorny stems. Some old-fashioned cultivars produce bright orange berries. Cultivars that produce bright yellow berries are now rare. Fruit ripens for migrating birds about autumn.

The thorns of firethorn are difficult to work with. However, they make a hedge of firethorn impenetrable. Frequent shearing deprives hedges of their natural form and some of their fruit. Selective pruning is tedious and likely painful, but retains more berries. Pyracantha needs sunny exposure, but is otherwise quite undemanding. It is susceptible to fireblight.

The most popular cultivars of firethorn can grow taller than eight feet. Taller cultivars that can grow twice as tall are uncommon. Sprawling types initially stay quite low, but without adequate pruning, form thickets. These same sprawling types are conducive to espaliers on fences and walls. Because pyracantha is difficult to work with, it should not be left to get unruly.

SANTA MONICA—On Tuesday, December 2, the Malibu Education Foundation announced that the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) voted unanimously in support of Malibu becoming its own entity, Malibu Independent School District.

The SMMUSD held a special Board of Education meeting on Monday, December 1, from 5-8 p.m. at the SMMUSD District Office located at 1717 4th Street in Santa Monica.

The purpose of the meeting was to come to an agreement on three key elements; financial, operational, and the governing framework needed to separate the two currently adjoined school districts. The Malibu meeting is scheduled for after the SMMUSD meeting.

According to the city of Malibu, the three governments include Property Tax Revenue Sharing Agreement, outlining how property tax revenues will be allocated; the Operational Transfer Agreement, which details the transition of staffing each facility involved, services, Joint Powers Agreement, and shared oversight during the transition.

Santa Monica and Malibu leadership both publicly shared interest in two separate, quality school districts.

Both pros and cons have been posted on X and other social media sites. Posts and accusations that the schools are participating in “segregation in 2025,” have been unfounded thus far.

“The Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District (SMMUSD) and the City of Malibu are advancing a major milestone in the effort to create two independent school districts; the Malibu Unified School District (MUSD) and the Santa Monica Unified School District (SMUSD). Both SMMMUSD and the City of Malibu remain committed to equity, fairness and ensuring high-quality education for students in both future districts.”

The proposal to separate Santa Monica and Malibu into two separate school districts was passed in late November.
