WEST HOLLYWOOD—On November 26, the flagship SKIMS STORE, owned by Kim Kardashian, known for the show “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and her relationship with Kanye West, was vandalized. A man was arrested later that morning for felony vandalism.

The flagship SKIMS store is located west of La Cienega Boulevard. It carries Kim Kardashian’s clothing line, which includes shapewear, underwear, and loungewear.

Deputies of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene around 5 a.m. after receiving a report of a man spray-painting the store, which opened in April 2025.

The cost of damage to the SKIMS store is estimated at roughly $400, and the words were removed later on Wednesday morning by a third-party contractor. The identity of the man who was arrested is unknown at this time.

SANTA MONICA—On Tuesday, November 25th, the Santa Monica City Council approved an update to the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan with a 6-0 vote. The approval makes the city of Santa Monica eligible for grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to fund infrastructure projects and recovery from natural disasters.

Following the January 2025 Palisades Fire, the city revised the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan after residents of northern Santa Monica were forced to evacuate, and the fire led the state legislature to designate parts of Santa Monica as wildfire risk zones.

The new Local Hazard Mitigation Plan includes 13 mitigation action items that the Santa Monica City Council plans to implement over the next 5 years.  Some of these items include developing a comprehensive citywide evacuation plan and expanding tsunami warning systems, and recommend that, in case of a tsunami hitting the city, residents flee on foot instead of in cars to prevent traffic gridlock that would, in turn, prevent an evacuation.

This plan will now be submitted to the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services for review and to the Federal Emergency Management Agency so it can also review the plan.

SANTA MONICA—During its latest meeting, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors announced it approved a resolution that created the Unincorporated Santa Monica Mountains Wildfire Disaster Recovery Financing District.

This was done to help fund the repair and replacement of infrastructure in the Santa Monica Mountains and public facilities following the 2025 Pacific Palisades wildfires, which transpired in January 2025 and devastated Southern California.

It also establishes a Publicly Financing Authority to implement the Infrastructure Financing Plan. The district will include the area surrounding the Santa Monica Mountains.

The work will be funded through incremental property tax revenues. In addition, under Senate Bill 782 this can be done without increasing taxes on the residents in the district.

The order was issued after the city council received complaints over the last few months from residents of Santa Monica about noise from vehicle movement in alleyways and from mechanical noise from charging equipment at the charging sites, which were opened in late 2024.

In July, Waymo informed the Santa Monica City Council that it sought to address these complaints by ending the alley congestion and lowering the volume made by its robotaxi.

Residents of Santa Monica claim they were not informed that large-scale charging depots would be opening in their neighbors

It has been alleged that Volterra, the company that oversees the charging of Waymo’s robotaxi claim they are immune from regulation by the Santa Monica City Council.

HOLLYWOOD HILLS—On September 8, the body of the missing teenager, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, was found in an abandoned Tesla vehicle that was left in an impounded lot in Hollywood Hills. Authorities have revealed that a second person has been linked to the death of the teen. The vehicle belonged to singer, D4vd.

Authorities have not yet revealed the name of the person. Homicide detectives of the Los Angeles Police Department have been investigating the disappearance of the teen for months.

The LAPD have been able to use this social media data and the cell phone data of the singer D4vd, who is now a suspect, to determine that this second person visited the Hollywood Hills impound lot.

In addition, the authorities suspect that this person was in the vehicle, where the body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez was discovered. No arrests have been made in the case. The investigation is ongoing.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) stated on its website they are aware of the recent stories posted by various media outlets about the D4vd/Celeste Rivas investigation and would like to dispel some misinformation contained in their reporting.

The body of Celeste Rivas was not frozen when it was discovered on September 8, 2025. She had not been decapitated. We have evidence that D4vd travelled to the Santa Barbara area sometime during Spring 2025. The reason for that trip is still under investigation and no conclusions at this point about the relevance of the trip to this case.

As far as the court order, the LAPD sought to seal the records of the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s investigation into Celeste Rivas’ death. That order was sought only to ensure detectives from Robbery-Homicide Division learned of important information surrounding her death before the media and the public. The order was not sought to undermine transparency.

No other information will be provided at this time, the LAPD stated.

SANTA MONICA—Residents of Santa Monica are suing the city for the commercial operations permit it granted to Santa Monica Airport to allow passenger air service. The names of the residents suing are Alan Levenson and Zina Josephs. They are working with the environmental non-profit Measure LC Defense. They filed the lawsuit last week in the Los Angeles Superior Court.

In the lawsuit, they claim that the city of Santa Monica violated the California Environmental Quality Act on October 9, 2025, when they permitted Delux Public Charter LLC, which operates as JSX Air, to begin conducting daily flights as the city made its decision using exemptions to avoid performing a comprehensive environmental review before making a significant change to the airport’s operations as it never had daily scheduled passenger air service before.

In addition, the lawsuit claims the city of Santa Monica overlooked many environmental concerns, including the increased pollution the flights would cause and the impact this would have on local communities.

In response to these claims, the city of Santa Monica has exercised no discretion when considering JSX Air’s request for the permit.

The city of Santa Monica claimed that the approval of the permit was exempt under a categorical exemption for negligible expansion of existing facilities, as well as under the “common sense” exemption. They claimed the decision was a ministerial action, which gives the city manager permission to operate with discretion when considering denying or issuing commercial operations permits. Residents have disputed these claims noting that the city failed to properly review the lease that JSX will need to make on space at the airport.

The petitioners are seeking a writ of mandate compelling the city to rescind the permit approval and an injunction preventing Santa Monica from permitting JSK to operate at the airport until the city has fully complied with the requirements for an environmental review.

WEST HOLLYWOOD—On Thursday, November 21, a multi-vehicle traffic collision occurred near noon next to West Hollywood City Hall, which is located on the 1000 block of North Sweetzer Avenue. When West Hollywood Deputies responded, they arrested one person, but four other people fled the scene.

One of these vehicles struck a garbage truck and also hit the bushes outside an apartment building. According to one of the witnesses, the events leading to this collision began on Santa Monica Boulevard in the parking lot of Joey’s Restaurant, where a man was alleged to have been peering into the windows of parked cars and trying to break open the window.

After being yelled at, he jumped into a car and drove off. The driver turned left onto Santa Monica Boulevard, then right onto North Sweetzer Avenue, where he hit another vehicle and forced it into the garbage truck. The first vehicle went over the curb and into the bushes in front of the apartment building.

According to a witness to the collision, two calls were made to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department to report the crash and attempted theft that occurred at Joey’s restaurant.

The authorities are working to determine if the people who fled from the crash site are connected to the person who committed the attempted theft at the restaurant. The investigation is ongoing.

SANTA MONICA—In 2023, Christian Hornburg was at the Santa Monica train station, and was attacked with a metal pipe and called racial slurs by Job Uriah Taylor. Hornburg, who is Black, was injured during the incident.

Taylor was not to expected to go to trial as he had been diverted due to being diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, an opiate use disorder, and bipolar disorder, but now faces a criminal trial.

In California, diversion is when a suspect who is mentally ill is sentenced to receive court treatment instead of jail time.

Taylor was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, attempted murder, and hate crime enhancements. He was granted diversion in March of this year by Judge Lana Kim.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney, Nathan Hochman, submitted a petition seeking to have the judges ordered vacated as Job Uriah Taylor attacked two more African-Americans on the day he attacked Hornburg. Taylor’s medical records indicate he engaged in hostile and aggressive action towards the staff on the facility in which he is being treated.

Last month, the California Court of Appeals granted that petition as they believed that nothing proved that Taylor would not be a danger to public safety if he was released.

Taylor will now face trial on the charges for which he was arrested. A pre-trial hearing will occur in December 2025. If he is found guilty, Taylor will face a life sentence in prison.

BEVERLY HILLS—The Beverly Hills Hotel us facing a lawsuit that was filed on November 5 in Los Angeles Superior Court by Elizabeth Jane Birr, who was the hotel’s first female banquet manager.

In her lawsuit, Birr claims that the management of the Beverly Hills Hotel did not take proper action after she claimed that a male supervisor, the director of banquets, not only created a hostile work environment for her, but also created a toxic work environment in which she endured both sexual harassment and gender discrimination.

The Beverly Hills Hotel hired Birr in May 2022. In December 2022, she was promoted to banquet manager and oversaw high-profile events. The harassment included her abilities as a female manager being mocked, having her authority undermined, and being berated by the banquet director. In addition, she claims that she was forced to endure listening to the director of banquets make homophobic and racist remarks, as well as making crude jokes.

She claims that the pay her male coworkers received increased three times, while she received no raise, and that she was mocked when she complained to the director about her pay wage.

In May 2024, she submitted a complaint to the hotel’s management about the harassment, including unequal pay and an investigation was initiated. Birr found that management excluded her from overseeing major events and assigned her demeaning tasks. A month later, she was forced to go on medical leave because of high blood pressure and panic attacks. In her lawsuit, she claims that while she was on leave, hotel management continued to mistreat her. Birr is seeking both punitive and compensatory damages from the Beverly Hills Hotel.

MALIBU—Libby Adame, 55, who resides in Riverside County, is an unlicensed cosmetologist.  On Wednesday, November 5, she was sentenced for performing an unlicensed cosmetic procedure that caused the death of a woman.

Adame has been sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.  She was charged with second-degree murder and practicing medicine without a license, and in October, she was found guilty.

The name of Adame’s sole victim is Cindyanne Santangelo.  She was a professional dancer and actress.  She died in March at her home.  Cindyanne Santangelo died from a silicone embolism.  The cause of this was silicone oil that was injected into her rear, and, unknown to her, it migrated from the spot where it had been injected to her bloodstream, and then the oil spread into her lungs. There, the oil caused a silicone embolism, which prevented her lungs from being able to supply oxygen to her body.  It became difficult to breathe.  Afterwards, she died.

Santangelo lived in Malibu.  She died on March 24 at the age of 58. During her acting career, she appeared in guest roles on the television shows “Married… with Children,” “E.R.” and “CSI: Miami.”

Libby Adame was at Cindyanne Santangelo’s house when she died.  However, Adame’s lawyers disputed the charges against her while in court and claimed that she was there to perform a consultation with the actress and did not perform he procedure.

In 2024, Libby Adame was convicted of involuntary manslaughter along with her daughter, Alicia Galaz, for illegally injecting silicone into Karissa Rajpaul. She died from an embolism.

In this case, both Adame and her daughter were sentenced to prison.  However, a judge later ordered that both of them be released as the judge believed that they had already completed their required prison time, while they were forced to wear electronic monitoring devices.

WEST HOLLYWOOD—On October, shortly before 1 p.m., an attempted robbery occurred in the 900 Block of North Sweetzer Avenue, where a masked man tried to use a gun to rob a man of his Rolex watch. The robber tried to take the Rolex by force, but the attempt failed because the victim was a retired wrestler.

A struggle ensued between the two men.  The robber soon found himself on the ground, being held in place by the former wrestler, but the struggle continued, where another individual ran over to assist the wrestler.

As the wrestler held the robber down on the ground, his girlfriend pried the gun out of the robber’s hand and threw the weapon away.  Afterwards, the couple was joined by a utility worker who had been working on a nearby house.  He helped them by holding down the suspect’s legs, and authorities were called.

Deputies with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene. The wrestler informed authorities that he and his girlfriend had been walking when a sedan pulled over, after which the robber emerged from the vehicle.

The former wrestler and his girlfriend did not release their names as they desired to remain anonymous. A second man emerged from the sedan, but instead of joining the robbery attempt, he climbed back into the sedan and fled the scene.
