LOS ANGELES—Excitement, passion, thousands of families lined the streets of Los Angeles as 250,000 people participated in the 2025 World Series parade on Monday, November 3. Riding atop giant decked out double decker buses, the final destination being Dodger Stadium to celebrate Back-to-Back World Series crowns.

Compared to the 2024 version, the ambiance and attitude surrounding the parade contained more intensity, nervousness and sheer bliss this time around.

Speaking to Canyon News, fans described the wild Game 7 win on Saturday night a gratifying, extra inning victory, they personally felt the draw to proudly be a part of the madness and camaraderie of the Boys in Blue.

It was an epic sea of Blue as the fleet of double decker buses filed into Chavez Ravine, making the wide turn to enter the pandemonium waiting inside.

“It was electrifying, a once in a lifetime experience,” said Laura Mendoza of Malibu. This was her first parade, and she loved the fans being out in full force at this massive ticker tape parade. A blue confetti party.

The Dodgers captured their second World Series in a row, with many clamoring for a Threepeat.

One key difference of this Dodger Dynasty compared to other title parades are the fans love for whole team. Not just the superstars.

Asking fans who their favorite Dodger in such a challenging environment was interesting. Some name jubilantly shouted included: Freeman, Yamamoto, Ohtani, Miguel Rojas, Kike Hernandez,Will Smith, Kershaw, Betts, Teoscar Hernandez.

Proving what a team effort it took the entire season to repeat as WS Champions. So many crucial plays in this classic Game 7.

Hero Miguel Rojas, the man who tied Game 7 with a home run in the 9th inning, thanked his teammates, in great detail, who also contributed to the decisive victory.

The iconic Dodger Stadium was obviously filled to capacity, as our Dodgers entered from Centerfield on a Blue carpet to a giant round podium. Hoisting the World Series title in the glistening sun was the signature moment of the parade.

Manager Dave Roberts, who earned his third World Series title as Dodger Manager, did not shy away from the prospects and expectations in 2026.

Ice Cube rolled out in a slick Dodger-blue convertible to deliver the team’s second straight World Series trophy to a sea of screaming fans.

Ice Cube celebrated during last year’s World Series rally as well. In his celebration speech, he loudly proclaimed that L.A. would do it all again next year!

Threepeat, Threepeat!” Roberts urged fans to yell the boisterous call, “Threepeat” the fans repeated in unison.

Shohei Ohtani rold the adoring crowd, “You guys are the greatest fans in the would. I’m ready for another ring next year.”

Dodger legend Clayton Kershaw finished out his stellar 18-year career as a champion, he thanked everyone as he raised off into the sunset.

A perfect ending to a perfect season!

TORONTO–The Los Angeles Dodgers clawed their way back in Game 7 to repeat as World Series champions, winning 5-4 in 11 thrilling innings over the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre on Saturday, November 1.

The Dodgers became the first repeat champions in a quarter century, and clinching it took everything they had.

Miguel Rojas became an overnight World Series hero-stepping  up to the plate in the ninth inning with the Dodgers trailing 4-3 cranked a tying home run off Jeff Hoffman.

He saved the game with a stellar defensive play in the bottom half, remarkable for a guy who barely played before Game 6.

Will Smith hit the WS game winning home run in the top of the 11th inning, a soaring blast over the left field wall. This victory was a whole team effort, handling the pressure of being the favorite since Spring Training

“You dream of those moments, you know, extra innings, put your team ahead — I’ll remember that forever,” Smith said after the game.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto was named the World Series MVP,   it was Yamamoto, completing one of the gutsiest pitching performances in baseball history: Winning Games 2 and 6 as a starter, then pitching 2 ⅔ innings of scoreless relief on zero days rest to win Game 7.

These final two games cemented the Dodger Dynasty. Winning consecutive games on the road becoming the first baseball team to repeat as World Series champions since the 1998-2000 New York Yankees.

The Dodgers trailed 4-2 in the 8th inning

It is the organizations 9th World Series, third in the last six years. It was one of the best World Series games  ever played.

Both teams fought valiantly for seven nail biting  games.  It feels euphoric for every Dodger fan.

There were dozens of memorable moments in this classic game, but the one that saved the Dodgers in the bottom of the 9th.

Andy Pages — who’d been benched due to lack of production in the postseason — made a game-saving catch in center field that prevented a Blue Jays walk-off in the bottom of the ninth.

The Dodgers were down 3-2 in the series, rallying back and winning the final two games in Toronto to quiet a stunned home crowd.

The Blue Jays had runners on the corners with one out with Alejandro Kirk due up. Yamamoto fired an 0-2 splitter, and Kirk broke his bat, hitting a grounder to shortstop. Mookie Betts stepped on second and fired to first to win it all.

The finale was baseball at its best, two evenly matched teams going the distance in the Series and in Game 7 itself to determine a champion.

The World Series parade will be on Monday.

The Dodgers are World Series champs once again. Pushed to the limit time after time, the Boys in Blue rallied in Toronto. Inspiring everyone in the City of Angels.

TORONTO– Get ready for a 7th Game of the World Series after the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 in Game 6 of this sensational World Series. Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched six innings for the Blue Crew, and Kike Hernandez made a jaw dropping catch leading to a game ending double play.

With runners on second and third base in the bottom of the ninth, the Dodgers clung on for dear life as the Blue Jays were mounting a comeback.  Tyler Glasnow was on the mound for the dramatic ending of Game 6 on Haloween night.

Toronto shortstop Andres Gimenez lined into a game-ending double play. Hernandez charged in to catch the liner in left field and threw a one-hopper to second base, where Miguel Rojas made a fine pick to double up the Blue Jays’ Addison Barger, who, as the potential tying run, wandered too far off second base.

“Stay up in the air. Stay up in the air,” Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts described his thoughts as Hernandez closed in on the ball. “And Kike just gets great jumps. He is one of my favorite baseball players to watch. He’s one of the headiest baseball players I’ve ever been around.”

We are tied at 3-3 in this  incredible Fall Classic.  Game 7 is later today, Saturday, November 1. All four runs in the game were scored in the third inning.

The Dodgers’ three-run  burst was capped by a two-run single from  shortstop Mookie Betts. Betts has been in a huge slump the entire World Series.

Betts needed to have a clutch performance for the Dodgers to force a decisive game seven. Mookie was money when the Dodgers were desperate for hits.

Meanwhile, L.A. starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto and his opponent, Toronto righty Kevin Gausman, repeated their Game 2 duel, with both pitchers tossing six strong innings and turning the game over to the respective bullpens

Zeros kept piling up, but the Blue Jays chased reliever Roki Sasaki, who was bidding for a two-inning save but struggled with his command. He began the ninth by plunking catcher Alejandro Kirk, who was replaced on the bases by Straw.

Who will start Game 7 for the Dodgers? All signs point to the best player in MLB: Shohei Ohtani. With everything on the line Saturday night, the Los Angeles Dodgers plan to start Shohei Ohtani on short rest in Game 7.

A final decision had not been made as of late Friday night, but the team is leaning in that direction. Every pitcher except Yamamoto is avaliable for this historic moment and opportunity.

The Blue Jays will start Max Scherzer in Game 7.

That includes Tyler Glasnow, who was lined up to start Game 7 but came out of the bullpen to record the final three outs in Friday’s Game 6. It includes Roki Sasaki, who faced seven batters. And it includes Ohtani, whose easiest path to pitching has always been to open the game, rather than coming out of the bullpen.

There is nothing left to say,  do or die Game 7 is  Saturday night. First pitch is set for 5:00 pm at the Rogers Centre in Toronto.

GO DODGERS!

LOS ANGELES– Freddie Freeman hit a solo home run in a marathon 18-inning epic Game 3 of the World Series, to lift the Dodgers to a crucial 6-5 victory over the Toronto  Blue Jays at Dodger stadium on Monday, October 27.

This thrilling win gives the Dodgers a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series

Kudos to the Fans who had the stamina to sit, stand and scream watching this classic WS battle. Some quick facts: 609 pitches 41 players, 19 pitchers and 6 hours and 39 minutes to resolve this one.

Even the casual baseball fan had to be swept up in the excitement and drama this game featured.

Even writing a summary of this game would take up three pages of the newspaper. Well, here goes:

368 days after Freeman hit a Walk-off Grand Slam homer  in Game 1 of the Fall Classic over the Yankees, he provided another storybook ending.

“When you have your bullpen doing what they are doing, over and over. It fires you up,” said Freeman postgame.

This bedtime story occured at 11:50 pm, Freeman saw a full-count sinker that sailed toward the middle of the strike zone and lifted it to straightaway center field for another game-ending home run.

180 words, and I haven’t  even gotten around to Shohei Ohtani’s brilliance. Ohtani was a key contributor, hitting two home runs and setting a new postseason record by reaching base nine times. He is also scheduled to start Game 4 this evening for the Dodgers.

Everyone counts on names like Ohtani , Freeman and Betts, they are future Hall of Famers. What you don’t expect is the heroics of a red bearded relief pitcher named Will Klein.

This bullpen savior went from the last man in the bullpen to the hero after throwing four scoreless innings, sprinted toward home plate to join a mob of teammates in celebration — only to be mobbed himself.

It was eerily similar to the longest World Series game of all time. Game 3 of the Boston Red Sox LA Dodgers  2018 World Series had the same setting of Chavez Ravine. It even ended with a home run in the bottom of the 18th inning.

The only difference being it was a  Max Muncy home run. Proving that playoff experience really pays off, the Boys in Blue have the mental fortitude to win.

This one saw the Blue Jays and Dodgers combine for 10 runs in the first seven innings and zero (against two of the worst bullpens in the sport) for the next 10.

Clayton Kershaw took the mound in the 12th inning with the bases loaded. The Dodgers legend with patches of gray in his beard, got out of a bases loaded jam,  in an emotional moment which saved the game.

It saw an array of impressive throws — Addison Barger gunning down Freeman at home in the third, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. cutting off a throw to get Teoscar Hernandez attempting to take third base in the sixth, Hernandez starting the relay that threw Davis Schneider out at home in the 10th.

Game 4 is later this evening at Dodger Stadium. First pitch is set for 5:08 pm.

TORONTO—After a tough Game One loss, the Dodgers evened up the Fall Classic thanks to home runs by Will Smith and Max Muncy in the seventh inning. The Boys in Blue cruised to a 5-1 victory in Game Two of the World Series at the Rogers Centre on Saturday, October 25.

The 2025 World Series is even at 1-1. We are coming home for the next three games starting Monday at Chavez Ravine. With games scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday it would seem to play in the Dodgers favor. Their starting pitching rotation is among the best ever assembled.

Dodgers ace Yoshinobu Yamamoto was the player of the game. Pitching his second consecutive complete game in a row. His performance was dominant; he becomes the first pitcher since Curt Schilling to match that feat in 2001.

It was a thrilling 1-1 tie until the seventh inning when Will Smith and Max Muncy blasted solo homers. Blowing the game wide open.

This was also a statement game for the hometown blue, going down 2-0 would have been almost insurmountable. Many were predicting prematurely a Dodgers collapse.

Game Three first pitch set for 5:07. As many fans were yelling from their home, restaurants and even Toronto – LETS GO DODGERS!

LOS ANGELES—Shohei Ohtani had arguably the greatest postseason performance in MLB history as the Los Angeles Dodgers captured the National League Pennant over the Milwaukee Brewers, 5-1 on Friday, October 17.

The Dodgers swept the hapless Milwaukee Brewers 4-0 in the National League Championship Series.

Dodgers Stadium was in a frenzy, fireworks bursting in the sky as the Boys in Blue are looking to repeat as World Series champs, a feat that hasn’t happened in twenty-five years.

Shohei Ohtani was the star of Game 4, becoming the first player in MLB history to hit three home runs and record 10 strikeouts in the same postseason game. He was named the NLCS MVP for his performance.

“That was probably the greatest postseason performance of all time,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

Shohei went from a slump into the NLCS MVP all in one majestic performance. After striking out three in the top of the first inning, Ohtani hit the first leadoff homer by a pitcher in major league history off Brewers starter Jose Quintana.

Ohtani followed with a 469-foot drive in the fourth, clearing a pavilion roof in right-center.

He added a third solo shot in the seventh, becoming the 12th big league player to hit three homers in a postseason game. His three homers traveled a combined 1,342 feet.

Ohtani also thoroughly dominated the Brewers in his second career postseason start on the mound, allowing just two hits during his first double-digit strikeout game in a Dodgers uniform. He didn’t give up a hit until the fourth, and he fanned two Brewers in the fourth, fifth and sixth.

The powerhouse Dodgers are the first team to win back-to-back pennants since Philadelphia in 2009. Los Angeles is back in the World Series for the fifth time in nine seasons, and it will attempt to become baseball’s first repeat champs since the New York Yankees won three straight World Series from 1998 to 2000.

Following a 9-1 rampage through the NL playoffs, the Dodgers are headed to the World Series for the 23rd time in franchise history, including 14 pennants since moving from Brooklyn to Los Angeles. Only the Yankees, last year’s opponent, have made more appearances in the Fall Classic (41).

Now the Dodgers await the winner of the American League. The Toronto Blue Jays beat the Seattle Mariners in a hard fought seven game series.

Toronto has home field advantage. Game 1 of the World Series will be at the Rogers Stadium. First pitch of the Fall Classic is at 5:00 pm, the World Series will air on FOX.

Only four wins away from another World Series title, adding to the greatness and mythology of this Dodger Dynasty.

MILWAUKEE, WI—Blake Snell was remarkable, pitching eight scoreless innings in Game One of the National League Championship Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers won another nail biter. Defeating the Milwaukee Brewers 2-1, taking a 1-0 Series lead.

Obviously, runs were hard to come by in this hard-fought pitching duel. Freddie Freeman hit a solo homer for Los Angeles to break a scoreless tie in the sixth.

Freeman’s homer came after the Brewers thwarted a couple of Los Angeles opportunities, most notably on a bizarre 8-6-2 double play that was inches away from becoming a Max Muncy grand slam.

Teoscar Hernandez made a blunder on the base pads at third base, but we won the game so it’s fine.

Snell showed Monday how much of a difference he can make. The two-time Cy Young Award winner walked none and allowed only one hit — a leadoff single by Caleb Durbin in the third.

He became the first pitcher to face the minimum 24 batters through eight innings in a postseason game since Don Larsen pitched his perfect game for the New York Yankees against the Brooklyn Dodgers in the 1956 World Series.

In the bottom of the ninth, Dave Roberts handed the ball to rookie Roki Sasaki in the ninth after Snell struck out 10 batters and threw 103 pitches.

Sasaki had worked 5.1 scoreless innings while adjusting to a bullpen role in the NL Division Series against Philadelphia, but he wasn’t nearly as sharp Monday.

It didn’t fare too well for Sasaki.

Isaac Collins drew a one-out walk and Jake Bauers hit a ground-rule double that bounced over the center-field wall. Jackson Chourio hit a sacrifice fly that scored Collins and advanced pinch runner Brandon Lockridge to third. Christian Yelich walked on a 3-2 pitch low and outside.

Roberts put in Blake Treinen, the 37-year-old vet to slam the door. Treinen struck out Brice Turang with a high fastball with the bases loaded to end the game.

Something about these 2-1 games, thrilling as they are, also have a tendency to induce ulcers.

Game Two is tomorrow, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto taking the mound for Los Angeles against Freddy Peralta in a matchup of All-Stars.

All of the NLCS will air on TBS, first pitch is 5:08 pm.

LOS ANGELES– In the bottom of the 11th inning, a crucial error by the visiting Philadelphia Phillies secured a wild 2-1 victory.  A dramatic conclusion to a captivating and thrilling Playoff series,  now the Los Angeles Dodgers advance to the NLCS.

Over 50,000 jubilant Dodger fans who refused to sit. Thursday,  October 9 at Dodger Stadium. LA beat Philly 3-1 in the best of five.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the 11th inning, Andy Pages hit an easy ground ball to reliever Orion Kerkering. Kerkering booted the ball, then threw it toward home but out of the reach of catcher J.T. Realmuto — too little, too late to save his team’s season.

Hyeseong Kim crossed the plate, and the Dodgers won 2-1 in Game 4. They will face either the Milwaukee Brewers or Chicago Cubs in the next round, with their hopes for a repeat championship still alive.

Dodger Stadium erupted with noise as soon as the ball left Kerkering’s hand — in the wrong direction. Even after leaving a sinker inside, where Pages did most of his damage this season, and even after watching the ball bounce away from him, Kerkering could have fixed it.

“It’s brutal,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. “It’s one of those things that it’s a PFP, a pitcher’s fielding practice. He’s done it a thousand times. And right there he was so focused, I’m sure, on just getting the hitter and just sort of forgot the outs and the situation.”

Los Angeles ended a postseason series with a walk-off win for the third time after Bill Russell’s single against the Phillies in Game 4 of the 1978 NLCS and Chris Taylor’s homer in the 2021 NL wild card game.

Nick Castellanos’ RBI double in the seventh off Emmet Sheehan had put the Phillies ahead but Jhoan Duran walked Mookie Betts with the bases loaded in the bottom half, forcing in the tying run.

More proof of a Dodgers Dynasty, the Blue Crew has reached the Pennant(NLCS), for the eighth time in thirteen seasons.

Game 4 was when our bullpen became resillient.

Dodgers rookie Roki Sasakie averaging 99.5 mph his his fastball, threw three innings of hitless relief, combining with Tylor Glasnow, Sheehan and winner on Alex Vesia a four-hitter.

Glasnow allowed two hits and three walks in six innings with eight of the 12 strikeouts by Dodgers pitchers.

Our Dodgers are halfway there.

EL SEGUNDO—Media Day for the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, September 29 inside the UCLA Health Training Facility in El Segundo had the ambiance and hurried excitement of a Hollywood red carpet premiere.  Cameras flashed, microphones and fans swarmed the packed gym as LeBron and Luka posed for pictures.

For the first time in years, a sense of optimism and Title expectations are surrounding the 2025-26 Lakers.

Last season ended bitterly as the Lakers were smashed in the first round of the NBA Playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games.

Several changes needed to be made, and the team has addressed those issues. First, we absolutely needed a reliable Center.

We signed big man in DeAndre Ayton. “This is the biggest opportunity of my career,” Ayton said.

And he’s right. At 7 feet tall, with soft hands and natural touch, Ayton adds an interior presence the Lakers desperately need. His 14.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game last season in Portland only scratch the surface of his potential impact alongside Dončić and James.

Pick-and-rolls, rim protection, second-chance points—Ayton’s fingerprints could be all over the Lakers’ title chase if he fully embraces this role.

Just imagine Doncic dishing the rock to Ayton for thundering Alley-Oop at will. His fingerprints will be on defense.

This off-season Luka took greater responsibility in regard to his conditioning. Luka Dončić wore the crown. Leaner, quicker, and brimming with confidence after a dominant EuroBasket run with Slovenia, he walked in looking like a man ready to redefine his NBA chapter.

“I would just say way less tired,” Luka said of his offseason transformation. “Probably a little quicker because of that.”

Head coach JJ Redick praised his star’s commitment, noting that conditioning is no longer Luka’s weakness but his weapon. A rested Dončić doesn’t just score—he defends, he leads, he sustains. In Los Angeles, Luka isn’t just the future; he’s the present.

Next, the ageless LeBron James at 40 years old entering his unprecedented 23rd NBA campaign finally sees light at the end of the tunnel.

“I don’t know when the end is, but I know it’s a lot sooner than later,” James confessed, his words carrying the kind of pause that makes you stop and listen. He chose to pick up his $52.6 million player option this summer, ensuring one more ride with the Lakers, but beyond that? The future is a mystery.

When the Lakers acquired Marcus Smart, they weren’t just adding a defender. They were importing an identity.

“That’s what I came to do, that’s why Luka called me, that’s what JJ wants,” Smart explained, his voice carrying conviction. The former Defensive Player of the Year averaged nearly two steals per game last season, but his value goes beyond numbers.

With the NBA season just weeks away, the Los Angeles Lakers are gearing up for an excellent year. Our season tips off on Tuesday, October 21, as Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors visit the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena.

LOS ANGELES—Seeking a second consecutive World Series title the Los Angeles Dodgers made a powerful statement in Game One of the National League Wild Card series, smashing the Cincinnati Reds, 10-5 at Dodger Stadium on Tuesday, September 30.

Smashing feels to be a very appropriate description of this game. Shohei Ohtani smashed a lead off 100 mph fastball into the right field bleachers. Ohtani would add another homer, while Teoscar Hernandez also hit a pair of home runs.

This is the Wild Card round, meaning it’s a best two out of three series. Obviously, it will be a more challenging and arduous battle than previous years, when they had the best record in the National league.

The Dodgers did enough on the front end – seven innings from Blake Snell and a productive night from the offense – to counteract some shakiness from the bullpen.

The Blue Crew hit a whopping five home runs. Hitting a franchise postseason record with five homers and pounded out 15 hits as they opened their bid to become the first back-to-back World Series winners in 25 years.

Blake Snell retired his initial eight batters in his first postseason start since 2022, when the two-time Cy Young Award winner was with the San Diego Padres.

Although the game was never truly in doubt, Los Angeles has a bullpen problem.

Los Angeles relievers Alex Vesia, Edgardo Henriquez and Jack Dreyer combined to issue four walks as the Reds scored three runs and pulled to 10-5. The trio needed 59 pitches to get three outs.

Either way, the Dodgers lead the Reds 1-0 in their series. Game Two in the best-of-three series is Wednesday night. The winner advances to a best-of-five Division Series against Philadelphia.

Ironically, these Angels just completed a sweep at, “The Big A,” in Anaheim.  The Angels have owned the Boys in Blue, winning all six games this season of the Freeway series.

It was also the first time in franchise history the Angels have gone 6-0 against the Dodgers in one season.

The sweep signals trouble for the Dodgers, who momentarily were overtaken by the scorching San Diego Padres in the N.L. West.

The Angels earned a convincing win in the opening game of the series on Monday, August 11, taking a 7-4 victory behind a strong Jose Soriano start. They went up 7-0 in the sixth inning and were able to fend off a late-inning comeback.

The final two games were more closely contested, as the Angels had to come from behind in both games to secure a late win.

Jo Adell walked off the Dodgers in Tuesday’s game, with the game winning hit, and Logan O’Hoppe’s two-run single in the bottom of the eighth on Wednesday made the difference. Former Dodger Kenley Jansen recorded saves in the first and final game of the series.

The solid series from the Halos gave them three much needed wins and allowed them to leapfrog the Minnesota Twins and Tampa Bay Rays in the AL Wild Card race. They are now five games behind the New York Yankees, who hold the final postseason spot.

For the first time since leaving the Angels in December 2023 to join the Los Angeles Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani stood on the same dirt where he became an international icon. The ovation from the crowd was equal parts admiration, disappointment and genuine appreciation.

Before he even touched the mound, Ohtani made noise at the plate. Leading off the game, he laced a triple down the right field line, before trotting home moments later to score his MLB-leading 114th run of the season. It was a symbolic opening act, reminding fans that his bat remains one of baseball’s most dangerous weapons.

These Dodgers have been struggling mightily since the All-Star break.

“We have to turn the page and get ready for San Diego,” said Mookie Betts of the loss and the Padres now leapfrogging them for first place in the N.L. West. “We would love to win all these games, but it just wasn’t in the cards.”

Move to last night, where Clayton Kershaw pitched a gem in the friendly confines of Chavez Ravine. Defeating San Diego, 3-2. The win broke a four-game losing streak for Los Angeles, with three of those losses featuring leads blown in the eighth or ninth inning.

The Dodgers bullpen woes have fostered an all-hands-on-deck approach in the middle of August, because of their plethora of top relievers on the injured list.

With 40 games left, the Dodgers are in a dead heat with the Padres at matching (69-53) records. It was a vintage Kershaw performance on the mound. Over six innings, he gave up two hits, one run, three strikeouts.

With the bullpen in shambles, Dodger skipper Dave Roberts put the ball in the hands of newly acquired pitcher Alexis Diaz, who secured the must win victory.

On Sunday, August 17, the Dodgers completed a three-game sweep of the San Diego Padres. The 5-4 victory gives the Dodgers a two-game lead in the N.L. West division over San Diego.

UNITED STATES—The Los Angeles Angels are entering the final stretch of the 2025 MLB season with their eyes set firmly on securing a playoff spot. Currently, they hold a 55-60 record, trailing the division-leading Houston Astros by nine games in the American League West. However, with several key series ahead, including matchups against division rivals, the Angels still have a path to contention. As the Angels work to secure a spot in the postseason, several key factors will play a pivotal role in shaping their chances. From player performances to crucial upcoming series, each element will have an impact on their playoff push.

The Impact of Player Performance on the LA Angels’ Playoff Hopes

Key players like Mike Trout and Taylor Ward will play a major role in determining the Angels’ playoff chances. Player health and performance will be crucial as the season unfolds.

Star Players to Watch

Despite the team’s challenges, standout performances from players like Mike Trout and Taylor Ward have kept the Angels competitive. Trout continues to be a cornerstone of the lineup, providing leadership and offensive power. Ward has stepped up as a key contributor to the team’s run production, and maintaining that level of play will be vital as the Angels push for a playoff spot.

Health and Injury Concerns

Injuries have been a persistent issue for the Angels this season. While specific details on current injuries are limited, the team’s depth and ability to manage player health will be pivotal in the coming weeks. Maintaining the health of key players will be essential for sustaining performance and making a late-season surge.

Team Dynamics and Coaching Strategy

Coaching decisions and team chemistry will shape how the Angels navigate their playoff push. Effective management and strong teamwork will be vital to their success.

Managerial Decisions and Team Chemistry

The leadership of interim manager Ray Montgomery will be under scrutiny as the season progresses. His choices on pitching rotations, bullpen use, and lineup changes will heavily influence the team’s success, while building a resilient, positive clubhouse culture will be just as crucial in weathering the pressures of a playoff chase.

Key Games and Rivalries Shaping Their Path

Upcoming series against division rivals, particularly the Texas Rangers and Houston Astros, will be critical. Performing well in these matchups can not only improve the Angels’ standings but also influence the dynamics of the division race. These games will be closely watched by fans and analysts alike, as they could determine the trajectory of the Angels’ playoff aspirations.

Strength of the Competition

The American League West is packed with tough competition. The Angels’ performance against rivals will be critical in securing their place in the postseason.

Division Rivals and Playoff Implications

The American League West remains one of the most competitive divisions in baseball. The Houston Astros lead the division, while the Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners are also in contention. The Angels’ performance against these teams in upcoming games will be crucial in their efforts to climb the standings and secure a playoff spot.

Head-to-Head Impact on Betting Odds

For bettors, understanding the significance of these head-to-head matchups is essential. The outcomes of games between division rivals can lead to shifts in betting odds, reflecting the changing dynamics of the playoff race. Keeping an eye on these games can provide valuable insights for those interested in LA Angels betting.

The Angels’ Path to Consistency

To secure a playoff spot, the Angels need more than a few big wins; they must deliver consistent performances across every game. Whether it’s pitching, defense, or hitting, reliable execution will be essential for maintaining their postseason hopes. The ability to perform consistently, especially against divisional rivals, will determine their ability to stay competitive as the season progresses. This steady performance will also influence how bettors view the team’s chances moving forward.

The Role of Fan Support and External Factors

Fan engagement and external influences, like trades and league developments, can impact team morale and performance during the final stretch of the season.

The Influence of Fan Engagement on Performance

While not directly impacting statistics, fan support can play a psychological role in a team’s performance. A passionate and engaged fan base can boost player morale and create a home-field advantage, especially during crucial games. The Angels will look to their fans to provide the energy and encouragement needed for a successful playoff push.

External Factors: League-Wide Changes, Trades, and Market Trends

Throughout the season, external factors such as trades, league-wide rule changes, and market trends can influence how the Angels approach their playoff push. Trade deadlines, for example, often see teams making moves to strengthen their rosters for a playoff run. The Angels will need to keep an eye on these developments and adjust their strategy accordingly.

How to Stay Updated on LA Angels’ Playoff Odds and Betting Trends

To make informed decisions on the Angels’ playoff chances, it’s crucial to stay updated with real-time insights. FanDuel’s Latest MLB Game Insights offers detailed breakdowns of team performances, trends, and expert predictions that can guide your betting strategy. The Road to the Playoffs

The Angels face both opportunities and challenges as they approach the final weeks of the season. While the path to the playoffs is narrow, a strong finish and favorable outcomes in key series could propel them into contention. The team’s ability to perform under pressure will be crucial in determining their postseason fate.

Predicting the Angels’ playoff prospects is complex, given the competitive nature of the American League West and the team’s current standing. However, with key players stepping up and critical games ahead, the possibility remains. Fans and analysts alike will be closely monitoring the team’s performance in the coming weeks to see if they can secure a spot in the postseason.

LOS ANGELES—After his historic inaugural season as a member of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Shohei Ohtani had arguably one of the greatest seasons in MLB history. Leading the Boys in Blue to the 2024 World Series title over the New York Yankees, while becoming the first ballplayer in Major League Baseball history to record 50 home runs and 50 stolen bases.

What could he possibly do for an encore? Oh right, Ohtani is an outstanding pitcher as well, who made his pitching debut for the Dodgers on Monday, June 16 at Chavez Ravine.

Having not taken the mound since August 23, 2023, as a Los Angeles Angel, he has been recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Ohtani pitched only an inning against division foe, the San Diego Padres.  It was a mixed bag.

Why only one inning you ask? Since Shohei is a two-way player, there is virtually no other player, except Babe Ruth to compare him to. A pitcher does extensive rehab, conditioning, grueling workouts, pitching sessions, not to mention a few rehab appearances for the Triple A Oklahoma City Comets before coming back.

That wasn’t going to ever be feasible in Ohtani’s position. Compound it with multiple injuries to the Dodgers pitching staff.

So, Ohtani decided to return to the mound to help the depleted Dodgers. His return will be closely guarded by Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts.

The raucous 50,000 in attendance were pleased with his brief outing, the team will increase his workload in due time. The first pitch was such a Big Deal ESPN broke in live to air Ohtani’s return to the mound.

Not surprising, Ohtani seemed to be the only human disappointed with his performance.

He threw one inning, as expected, and gave up one run on a sacrifice fly, requiring 28 pitches to record the game’s first three outs. Later, he went 2-for-4 as the designated hitter helping out his own cause, striking out twice but also driving in a couple of runs.

His tenth pitch Monday night clocked 100.2 mph. His 17th came in at 99.9 mph. It triggered excitement, but, also, to the members of the Los Angeles Dodgers who have vowed to be careful with his return to pitching, some caution.

“Not quite happy with the results overall,” Ohtani said through an interpreter, “but I think the biggest takeaway for me is that I feel good enough to be able to go out for my next outing.”

Ohtani, 30, functioned as a transformative two-way player from 2021 to 2023. On the mound, he posted a 2.84 ERA with 542 strikeouts and 143 walks in 428⅓ innings.

Unfortunately, Ohtani was diagnosed with a second tear in his ulnar collateral ligament after a start on Aug. 23, 2023, and underwent surgery a month later.

The plan is for Ohtani to take the mound every six to eight days and add at least an inning each time until he’s built up to act like more of a traditional starting pitcher.

It’s only June and the Dodgers are always thinking about October.

LOS ANGELES—In a rematch of the 2024 World Series, the Bronx Bombers visited Chavez Ravine to seek some revenge over WS Champs, the Los Angeles Dodgers this past weekend. Our Boys in Blue took two of the three, including a merciless 18-2 victory on Saturday.

Baseball’s two biggest stars, Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani, rose to the occasion and provided the fans with home runs and excitement.

Shohei Ohtani set the tone of the highly anticipated World Series rematch against the New York Yankees on the first pitch he saw in the series opener. The Los Angeles Dodgers two-way superstar blasted a 417-foot home run to center field on Friday in the series opener, just minutes after reigning American League MVP Aaron Judge hit a towering home run of his own.

Judge and Ohtani became just the second reigning MVPs to homer in the same game since Miguel Tejada and Barry Bonds did so in 2003. Ohtani and Judge each have 63 home runs over the last 165 games, and both are on track toward adding another MVP award to their trophy case later this year.

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in the Fall Classic in 2024 to capture the World Series in five games.

We love superstars,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on Friday. “And to start the game off with Judge hitting a homer and Shohei answering in the bottom half was pretty exciting for everyone.”

The Dodgers overcame a three-run deficit in a comeback 8-5 win over New York in the opening game of the series that set the tone for the rest of the heavyweight matchup.

On Saturday, it was a blowout. Had it been a Little League game, it would have been called after five innings. Rest assured, these Dodgers want to pulverize any feelings a Yankee might have.

The final score was 18-2 on Saturday. Ohtani got the fun started at the top of the lineup with a single, but Dodgers infielder Max Muncy was the one who tilted the series in the home team’s favor for good.

Shohei even got to take a little nap in the dugout. Proof the Yankees are not putting any fear into the heart of the Dodgers.

Muncy blasted two home runs — including the 200th of his career — and drove in seven runs, tied for the most in his career. His performance played a part in the Yankees suffering their worst loss against a National League opponent in franchise history.

New York’s offense in the second game of the series solely came from Judge’s bat. The Yankees scored two runs — both off solo home runs from their slugger — and finished with just seven hits.

On Sunday, the Yankees avoided the sweep with a 7-3 win. New Yorks Jasson Domínguez drove in Trent Grisha in the first inning, and Ben Rice blasted a 425-foot home run in the third inning to take the lead for good. The Yankees knocked Dodgers star Yoshinobu Yamamoto out after just 3 ⅔ innings after he surrendered three walks and seven hits, tied for the most he has allowed in his career.

They are still atop a crowded NL West with a 36-23 mark and have a two-game lead over the San Diego Padres.

This series against the Yankees brought new juice to the clubhouse amid a tough stretch. It also made regular-season baseball in May feel like it was being played deep into October.

UNITED STATES—The June 17 MLB clash at Oracle Park between the Cleveland Guardians and the San Francisco Giants promises to be one of the most electric interleague matchups of the season. Both rosters feature standout talent with the skill and mentality to tilt the outcome of a game with a single at-bat or defensive gem.

José Ramírez — The Relentless Catalyst

José Ramírez is more than a cornerstone for the Guardians—he’s their emotional engine. Known for his fearless approach and high baseball IQ, Ramírez thrives in the heart of pressure-filled moments. He brings swagger and command to every at-bat, never intimidated by any pitcher or situation.

His compact, powerful swing delivers consistent hard contact, and his switch-hitting flexibility makes him a nightmare for opposing bullpens. His instincts on the base paths and in the field allow him to take over games in subtle and explosive ways. Ramírez’s hunger to lead his team and his unrelenting competitive edge make him an undeniable x-factor against the Giants.

Kyle Manzardo — The Emerging Threat

Kyle Manzardo is poised to become a fixture in the Guardians’ future, but his presence now is already making a difference. His sweet left-handed swing and natural feel for the strike zone give him the kind of professional plate approach rarely seen in young players.

Manzardo doesn’t chase, doesn’t flinch, and rarely lets an opportunity pass him by. What makes him so dangerous is his ability to adjust mid-at-bat, staying disciplined yet aggressive when he sees a pitch he can handle. His timing and barrel control turn mistake pitches into screaming line drives. Expect him to stay poised under the Oracle Park spotlight and make an impression.

Steven Kwan — The Contact King

Steven Kwan is the definition of consistency. His ability to put the bat on the ball with surgical precision makes him one of the hardest outs in baseball. Kwan’s command of the strike zone and refusal to expand his swing make him a tone-setter at the top of the lineup. He brings old-school discipline with modern efficiency, rarely striking out and constantly applying pressure to opposing defenses.

In the outfield, he covers ground with crisp jumps and excellent routes, turning difficult plays into routine ones.

Guardians fans following the series from back home can take advantage of the latest betting promos in Ohio, finding new ways to stay engaged with every pitch and inning—no matter where the game is played.

Wilmer Flores — The Veteran Spark

Wilmer Flores brings a level of emotional and strategic maturity to the Giants that few players can replicate. He’s known for staying calm in the biggest moments and delivering when the game is on the line.

Flores has mastered the art of situational hitting—shortening his swing, using the whole field, and focusing on run production over flash. His ability to play multiple infield positions allows San Francisco to keep his bat in the lineup and adjust defensively on the fly. Flores is always in sync with the moment, and when the Giants need a spark, he’s often the one who delivers it.

Matt Chapman — The Defensive Wall

Matt Chapman’s glove is a game-changer. On the defensive side of the ball, there are few third basemen who combine lateral quickness, arm strength, and fearless reaction time like he does. He swallows up would-be extra-base hits with diving stops and fires lasers across the diamond with ease.

But it’s not just defense—Chapman’s bat has grown more dangerous with a refined approach. His powerful lower half and quick hands generate impressive torque, allowing him to drive balls with authority, especially when pitchers miss location. He’s a momentum-shifter who can erase scoring threats with his glove and create them with one swing.

LaMonte Wade Jr. — The Patience Assassin

LaMonte Wade Jr. brings a level of discipline that disrupts even the most seasoned pitchers. His ability to work counts, foul off tough pitches, and wait for something in his wheelhouse puts stress on opposing staffs from pitch one.

Wade doesn’t get rattled—he gets better the tighter the moment becomes. His compact swing allows for surprising pop, particularly in late-game situations when the team needs a lift. What separates him is not just his patience, but his sense for the moment. Wade embraces the spotlight, and against a tough Guardians pitching staff, his blend of discipline and late-inning heroics could be critical.

Guardians’ Offensive Formula

Cleveland thrives by grinding down pitchers. Ramírez, Kwan, and Manzardo bring a trifecta of patience, timing, and contact skill that forces opposing defenses to stay alert on every pitch. They don’t rely solely on the long ball; they build rallies with base hits, aggressive baserunning, and productive outs. Their offense is built on forcing mistakes and capitalizing on them immediately.

Against a well-coached team like the Giants, the Guardians’ ability to manufacture runs without needing a three-run homer could become the biggest separator.

Giants’ Tactical Versatility

The Giants counter with lineup flexibility and a mix of power and situational intelligence. Chapman anchors the infield defense, Flores offers clutch contact, and Wade Jr. sets the tone with plate discipline. Their ability to play multiple roles in different batting spots allows San Francisco to create favorable matchups throughout the game.

This adaptability, coupled with defensive surety, helps them stay in games even when the offense is slow to ignite. The Guardians’ pitching staff will need to navigate the order carefully—each of these hitters brings a different threat.

Key Matchups Within the Game

Ramírez squaring off against Chapman will be a highlight reel waiting to happen. The defensive skills of Chapman are the perfect test for Ramírez’s aggressive base hits and daring infield runs.

On the flip side, watching Manzardo try to disrupt Wade Jr.’s calm rhythm could be a battle of mental fortitude. These matchups speak less to individual stats and more to the mental chess being played between players who excel at reading situations and adjusting on the fly. Every at-bat has the potential to shift the momentum.

Impact Beyond the Box Score

What sets these six apart isn’t just their skill—it’s their presence. Ramírez is the fire that fuels Cleveland’s clubhouse. Kwan leads by example. Flores mentors younger players while delivering in the clutch. Chapman stabilizes the defense and lifts the energy on the field. Wade Jr. models consistency and competitive composure. Manzardo brings a fresh hunger to succeed.

Each player carries intangible qualities that drive team chemistry and inspire confidence during the grind of a 162-game season. Those factors matter just as much on June 17 as any batting average or ERA.

The Oracle Park Setting

Oracle Park presents its own set of challenges and opportunities. The expansive outfield will test defenders like Kwan and Chapman. The windy marine air could suppress offense, putting a premium on contact hitters like Wade Jr. and Manzardo.

Players who can adjust to the park’s quirks and stay locked into their approach will be the ones who make the difference. Beyond the stats, this setting rewards grit, awareness, and preparation—traits all six featured players bring in abundance.

All Eyes on June 17

This isn’t just another interleague game. It’s a showcase of rising stars, respected veterans, and elite baseball minds competing in one of the league’s most scenic venues. Each player mentioned brings more than a name to the lineup—they bring an identity.

Guardians vs. Giants on June 17 won’t just be decided by numbers. It’ll come down to feel, instincts, and the fire that only true difference-makers bring when the lights are brightest.

UNITED STATES—Shohei Ohtani is rewriting MLB history with an unprecedented combination of power and speed. In his first year with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Ohtani joined the elusive 50/50 club—50 home runs and 50 stolen bases in a single season. No player had ever achieved this feat, making Ohtani’s accomplishment one of the most remarkable moments in baseball history. With every swing and steal, he cemented his place among the sport’s all-time greats.

Ohtani’s Historic Dodgers Season

Ohtani’s arrival in Los Angeles marked the start of something extraordinary. After signing the largest contract in MLB history (a 10-year, $700 million deal), he wasted no time proving his worth. The 2024 regular season saw him excel as both a slugger and a base thief, pushing the boundaries of what an individual player can achieve.

Not only did he show unparalleled versatility, but he also did it while recovering from Tommy John surgery, which made his performance even more impressive.

The Elusive 50/50 Club

No player in baseball history had ever managed to hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases in the same season. The feat requires a combination of speed and power that seems nearly impossible.

Ohtani, however, challenged these limits. With 54 home runs and 59 stolen bases in 159 games this season, his balance of skills places him among the elite in both hitting and running categories—an achievement that marks a new era in baseball.

Ohtani’s Competition for the 50/50 Record

Players like Alex Rodriguez and Barry Bonds flirted with the idea of the 50/50 club, but none could quite get there. Rodriguez, for example, stole 46 bases in 1998 but fell short with home runs. Bonds came close in 1990, stealing 52 bases but only managing 33 home runs. Ronald Acuña Jr. came close just last year, swiping 73 bases but missing the 50-homer mark by nine. Despite their efforts, they didn’t accomplish what Ohtani achieved.

Dodgers’ Secret Weapon

Ohtani’s leap from the Angels to the Dodgers played a pivotal role in his newfound base-stealing prowess. In previous seasons, Ohtani’s highest stolen base total was 26. However, the Dodgers’ system gave him more freedom on the bases, allowing him to capitalize on opportunities with astonishing efficiency.

His 59 stolen bases show how much his game has evolved since joining the Dodgers. Ohtani finished second in the National League and in the majors in steals behind Elly De La Cruz, who had 67.

Record-Breaking Home Runs

While Ohtani has always been a feared hitter, his power this season has reached new heights. His 54 home runs put him in second place in the majors, trailing only Aaron Judge, who had 58. This season showcased his ability to hit with both consistency and power, traits that helped him reach the 50/50 mark.

There are plenty of odds at all the major sportsbooks. BetMGM Sportsbook currently has Ohtani at +180 to win the National League MVP. Make sure to take advantage of a BetMGM promo code if you want to get in on any of the MLB action, as Ohtani’s Dodgers are looking to go far in the postseason.

A Season of Milestones

As if becoming the only member of the 50/50 club wasn’t enough, Ohtani’s 2024 regular season was also notable for his incredible recovery from Tommy John surgery. While still rehabbing his pitching arm, Ohtani managed to dominate as a hitter and baserunner. This balance of health management and performance exemplifies his extraordinary athleticism and resilience, adding another layer to his historic campaign.

Ohtani’s Impact Beyond the Field

Ohtani is redefining what it means to be a versatile player in Major League Baseball. His ability to both pitch and hit at an elite level has made him one of the most valuable assets in the game. Ohtani’s numbers this season elevate him to a level of individual performance rarely seen in the sport. His success is inspiring a new generation of players to embrace a more all-around game.

Comparing Ohtani to the Greats

Shohei Ohtani’s stats have brought comparisons to some of baseball’s all-time greats. Yet, no one has been able to combine the power of a home run king with the speed of a base thief quite like Ohtani. His presence in the league is not only groundbreaking but potentially transformational for how future players will approach the game.

Ohtani’s unique combination of speed and power places him in a category all his own, forever changing the landscape of Major League Baseball.

Ohtani achieved something truly special. Now, playing in his first career postseason, he wants to make even more history, helping the Dodgers go far and possibly compete for the World Series. Los Angeles won the National League West and finished the regular season with the best record in the majors at 98-64. They’re facing the Padres in the NLDS.

PEORIA, AZ—Hope Springs eternal for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are in the middle of Spring Training in pristine Peoria Arizona. Rather than discussing the face of MLB, Shohei Ohtani joining our L.A. Dodgers, or new pitching sensation, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, the big topic has been…jerseys?

Thats right. Players as well as fans are vocally jeering and booing the Nike 2024 MLB jerseys, which appear to be cheap knockoffs. The numbers are noticeably smaller, and the iconic Dodgers logo is so tiny fans will have another use for their binoculars at the Ballpark.

Last week, the league unveiled its new Nike Vapor Premier uniforms that are manufactured by Fanatics to less than stellar reviews.

Although the jerseys are “engineered to improve mobility, moisture management and fit,” MLB said, the threads have drawn criticism over the cheap look, small lettering and limited customization options.

For the players, the pants are the primary complaint. Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Trea Turner said, “everyone hates them,” and that goes for several players.

Despite MLB officials claiming the uniforms, which are manufactured by Fanatics, provide players with better mobility, with material that offers 25% more stretch and dries 28% faster than the previous uniforms.

The Nike Vapor Premier uniforms, as they’re known, took years to develop, according to the MLB. It seems this vapor, wispy and see-through stench reeks of greed just to sell more jerseys at the licensed MLB stores or online.

As if taking the family to Chavez Ravine wasn’t expensive already.

“The pants of the new MLB unis for 2024 appear to be … somewhat see-through?” one Twitter user pointed out in a post featuring an image of Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Though Nike designed the jerseys, fans are blasting the manufacturer, sports merch conglomerate, Fanatics. The company has been criticized for its growing dominance over the sportswear industry.

Many fans blame it for a) higher prices b) lower quality and c) fewer options.

Nike has created a problem with shoddy uniforms, roundly frustrating everyone who loves the Great American Pastime.

Players took the issue to the MLB Players Association, which said it hopes to fix the jersey situation before the start of the regular season in five weeks.

Since the Los Angeles Dodgers are bigger than the HOLLYWOOD sign at the moment, they have two opening days. The first pitch globally takes place in Seoul, South Korea on March 20, has the Boys in Blue taking on the rival San Diego Padres.

On March 28, the Dodgers will celebrate their traditional Opening Day game against the St. Louis Cardinals. First pitch is 1:10 p.m.

Football is over, bring on Baseball!

LOS ANGELES– Shohei Ohtani is driving up the 5 freeway and joining the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Saturday, December 10, the two time AL MVP and face of Major League Baseball signed a whopping 10-year contract worth a record $700 million dollars.

Ohtani, at only 29, led the American League with 44 home runs this past season, in addition to throwing 132 innings with 167 strikeouts and a 3.14 ERA.

He won’t pitch in 2024 given his recent elbow surgery, but he will hit next year, and hit a lot. Ohtani has moved his career north to Chavez Ravine and will no longer play in the shadows of Disneyland.

Ohtani made the shocking announcement on Instagram, sending the entire sports world into a frenzy.

“To all Dodgers fans, I pledge to always do what’s best for the team and always continue to give it my all to be the best version of myself,” “Until the last day of my playing career, I want to continue to strive forward not only for the Dodgers but for the baseball world.”

In terms of the history of North American team sports, it exceeds Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ 10-year, $450 million extension; in baseball, it surpasses now-former teammate Mike Trout, who agreed to a 12-year, $426.5 million extension with the Angels in 2019.

The game’s most dynamic talent is heading to Los Angeles proper to join a Dodgers team that won 100 games this past season, but also got swept in the Division Series.

Manager Dave Roberts will start his lineup with Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman in an what’s sure to be one of the greatest lineups in MLB in 2024 and beyond.

This is such a monumental moment in the history of Los Angeles sports. Akin to Wayne Gretsky signing with the Los Angeles Kings, or Shaquille O’Neal going to the Lakers.

Everyone in the Southland is talking about the record deal, regardless of whether they enjoy baseball or the Dodgers.

LOS ANGELES—Julio Urias career as a Los Angeles Dodger might be over.

The All-Star pitcher was placed on administrative leave indefinitely by Major League Baseball on Wednesday, September 6 three days after the Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher was arrested on suspicion of corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.

The leave was imposed under baseball’s joint domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse policy adopted by MLB and the players’ union in 2015 and can be the first step toward a suspension. Players are paid but cannot play while on leave.

“They have to go through the process — players’ association, Julio’s group. Baseball is working through this,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said in Miami.

MLB and the union agreed to the leave, which did not specify a length. Absent an agreement, MLB could have imposed a leave of up to seven days with the possibility of a seven-day extension.

These aren’t the first allegations against Urias involving domestic violence.

Urías, a 27-year-old Mexican-born pitcher, was arrested in May 2019 for domestic battery. He was suspended 20 games by MLB, but he wasn’t prosecuted by the Los Angeles city attorney on the condition he complete a 52-week domestic violence counseling program. No player has been suspended twice under MLB’s joint domestic violence policy.

Urías was arrested late Sunday night on September 10 by Department of Public Safety officers in Exposition Park, south of Downtown Los Angeles. The park is home to BMO Stadium, where Lionel Messi was playing in a Major League Soccer game with numerous celebrities in attendance.

DPS offered no details Wednesday on the circumstances of the arrest but asked for any witnesses with information regarding the incident to contact them.

DPS on Wednesday confirmed Urías’ arrest for a violation of Penal Code 273.5, which is corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant. Corporal injury on a spouse requires a bodily injury being willfully caused by physical force and is a felony.

“The Dodgers take all allegations of the kind in this case very seriously, and we do not condone or excuse any acts of domestic violence,” the team said in a statement.

UNITED STATES—Sports rivalries have existed since dawn, from the Los Angeles Lakers and the Boston Celtics, Real Madrid and Barcelona to the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders. But one rivalry has often exceeded others, and it’s been an ongoing feud for over 100 years.

Hostility between specific teams in Major League Baseball is nothing new. America’s greatest pastime has unquestionably kept some old-school traits, including disdain towards a fierce rival. This sentiment reigns particularly true with the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.

Red Sox and Yankees Rivalry Origins

How exactly did the rivalry come to fruition? MLB historians have presented conflicting timelines of events, but the first time these teams faced one another was on April 26th, 1901, the debut year of the American League.

However, this period saw the Yankees represent Baltimore (Orioles), and the Red Sox were known as the Boston Americans. Experts will argue the rivalry didn’t surface until 1938, when both teams were competitive. Others will disagree and reference something known as “the curse,” this was a pivotal moment for Yankees baseball as they acquired one of the greatest players ever – Babe Ruth – from their rivals.

Ruth, an MLB all-star and one of the most significant names in the sport, was traded from the Red Sox to the Yankees for $125,000 – roughly $2 million in today’s value. While the trade was huge in assisting a debt-ridden Boston side, it kickstarted what’s since been known as “the curse.” The Red Sox wouldn’t win a World Series between 1919 – the year before Ruth was traded – until 2004.

During the Sox’s trophyless 86-year span, the Yankees evolved into one of the most successful organizations in baseball. As the Red Sox struggled for glory in eight successive decades, the Yanks won 26 World Series titles. The suspense has been distinct whenever the two teams have played ever since.

Finally 2004, the American League Championship and the Red Sox “curse” were finally snapped. They overcame the Yankees in the ALC – a first since 1918 – and won the World Series.

The rivalry isn’t as heated today, but it remains present. The deep routes tied to this feud are the longest-standing in MLB. Furthermore, both teams are the lone competitors to capture multiple World Series titles since 2007, thus making the rivalry more intriguing and competitive.

H2H & Red Sox Sweep the Yankees

The iconic rivalry is heavily in favor of the Yankees. With 2,320 games played as of May 2023, the Yankees lead the Red Sox in head-to-head games (1,257 – 1,049). However, postseason meetings tell a different story, as the teams are tied 12-12 throughout five meetings.

Statisticians and sports bettors would pick the Yankees over the Red Sox any day of the week, but the latter made history just last week, and it was a special moment for Boston baseball in their ongoing feud.

Between June 10th and the 19th, a six-game series ended 5-1 for the Red Sox. For the second time in 40 years, the Red Sox swept the Yankees on home soil just a week after winning two of three games in New York. Something that critics and even Boston diehards using Massachusetts sports betting promos didn’t expect, Boston swept NY in a doubleheader (last achieved in 2006).

This positioned the Red Sox to 37-35 on the season, trailing three games to a wild card spot in the American League.

The Biggest Rivalry in MLS History?

Of course, the answer would be a resounding yes when questioning fans of both teams. With that said, it’s difficult to argue otherwise. The Red Sox-Yankees’ dislike for one another has survived longer than most current fan’s life span and then some, and it’s provided unforgettable moments and legends of the sport. In addition, a century of memories, emotions, and competitive games have played out.
